The president of the Democratic People's Party and one of the leaders of the "For the Future of Montenegro" coalition, Milan Knežević, said that he told Prime Minister Milojko Spajić yesterday that it would be difficult for them to continue supporting his government if Montenegro voted for the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica.
He believes that Montenegro's amendments to the draft document are "a kind of mint tea".
"That story about the amendments seems completely unconvincing and I believe that everyone in Montenegro is clear that Montenegro as a country will enter a serious type of instability. I am not sure that Prime Minister Spajić will not consider everything that we told him yesterday, since we had one conversation with him. I expect that there will be some changes in the voting of that resolution, since we had a conversation with Prime Minister Spajić yesterday. I hope that we will not be upset as a country and that we will vote differently than Prime Minister Spajić said. Knežević in an interview for Kurir.
He reiterated the claim that the goal of the resolution is to declare the Serbs a genocidal nation.
Last week, at the prime minister's hour in the parliament, Spajić said that Montenegro will vote for that resolution, and the government submitted two amendments to the proposal of that document, which will be voted on at the United Nations General Assembly.
