Montenegro implemented demanding reforms in a short time and fulfilled the most important obligations from the European agenda, it was announced at the meeting of the Minister of European Affairs, Maida Gorčević, with the Director General of the European Commission's Directorate for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Kopman.
At the meeting, as stated by the Ministry of European Affairs (MEP), it was also announced that the partners from the European Union (EU) and the member states recognize the progress of Montenegro and that it can be expected that in June there will be an Intergovernmental Conference and the receipt of a Report on the fulfillment of temporary benchmarks (IBAR), and after that, the accelerated closing of negotiation chapters.
Gorčević said that all three branches of government, in cooperation with the civil sector, have shown that they are up to the demanding European task.
As she stated, a huge amount of work has been done in all areas, especially in the field of the rule of law.
Gorčević added that she is especially happy that the results are not only on paper, but can be seen in practice.
"Although we still have a lot of work to do, especially in terms of the fight against corruption and organized crime, but also in other chapters, such as the environment, I am sure that from June, after receiving IBAR, Montenegro will enter the final stages of accession negotiations," she said. Gorcevic.
She thanked for the strong political, expert and especially financial support of the European Commission and member states.
Gorčević pointed out that the funds from the Growth Plan and other EU instruments, which will be available to Montenegro in the coming period, will enable the completion of the started reforms, but also improve the living standards of citizens and increase the gross social product, which is the main goal of that process. and the key task of the Government.
