The board decided that there will be no control hearing of Bečić, Marković and Novović

The Committee for Security and Defense of the Parliament of Montenegro decided at today's session that there will be no control hearing of the Vice President of the Government of Montenegro Aleksa Bečić, the Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković and the Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović.

Two MPs voted for the control hearing, and six MPs voted against it.

The session discussed the request of the deputies of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Danijel Živković, Nikola Janović and the deputy of the Social Democrats (SD) Nikola Zirojević for a control hearing of Bečić, Marković and Novović regarding the "political pressure of government representatives on the work of judicial bodies, which incites suspicions in the selective approach of the prosecution in selecting priority cases for prosecution".

At the beginning, Živković referred to the recent arrests, primarily of the director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jelena Perović, and pointed out that the representative of the executive branch, Aleksa Bečić, announced the arrest before it happened.

As he said, they requested the hearing to determine whether the prosecution has a selective approach, but also whether there is political pressure on them.

Deputy of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) Vladislav Bojović called this request manipulation.

"The DPS did not make mistakes or oversights during its rule, but organized robbery of Montenegro and its premeditated killing - both economically and in terms of values," said Bojović.

He pointed out that, if there was pressure from the ruling majority on the prosecutor's office, it would be logical for Milo Đukanović to be arrested first, and added that his coalition had been pointing out for years that he was the "head of the criminal octopus".

Živković said that Bojović is trying to divert the topic from current problems by returning to the story of DPS.

"Your political subject works for the interests of another country, and your political leader is accused of attempted terrorism," Živković replied to Bojović.

He recalled that the leader of the DNP once announced that he would not vote for VDT until the candidate made a statement about the case of the so-called of the coup d'état, but that in the end he still voted even though there was no such statement, and that this means that "there were some informal discussions".

"I don't know why you are defending the prosecution against us when we are talking about the facts that happened on the day of the arrest of the director of ASK", said Živković.

He mentioned the case of the former Minister of Education, Culture and Sports who caused damage to the state budget, and that the prosecution "does not know where she is, and in the meantime she becomes a full professor at the University of Montenegro."

Bogdanović: The initiative is an attempt to influence the trial of Mijajlović, Lazović and Katnić

Member of the Movement for Europe Sad (PES) and President of the Committee Miodrag Laković pointed out that there is no need to comment on individual cases that are still ongoing.

Bojović recalled the case of the current deputy of the DPS and the then mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, who, when communicating with the former president of the Supreme Court, Vesna Medenica, asked her to keep certain detained persons longer.

Živković told Bojović that, if they overthrew the government, DPS would not come to power, but new elections would be held.

Member of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Jovan Vučurović announced that his party will be against the initiative for a control hearing because he believes that "the reason is weak and unfounded."

"I believe that in this way they want to obstruct the initiation of investigations against some people who were at the head of the octopus," Vučurović said.

Živković replied that, if they do not discuss this topic at the committee, they will discuss it at the plenum.

Democrat MP Boris Bogdanović stated that both Bečić and Novović are in positions to do their jobs, and that the whole initiative is an attempt by certain people to influence the trial of Aleksandar Mijajlović, Zoran Lazović and Milivoj Katnić.

"Several institutions are involved in the entire process against Perović - from the SDT, the Police Directorate of the Special Police Department... In this way, they are trying to put pressure on them," Bogdanović assessed and added that she was not only defending herself, but also them "who pushed her to the front row".

Živković: I don't see that any other committee should initiate a hearing

Živković said that there is no problem with discussing every move that happened in the previous 30 years, but that it is not about masking the actions that happened during their rule, and that as the opposition they have the right to request a control hearing if they think it is necessary.

"I believe that the supreme state prosecutor has enough courage and integrity to appear before us. We are not calling these people to be shot, but to answer some questions. We are dealing with issues that have a certain amount of public attention," said the Social Democrat deputy. (SD) Nikola Zirojević.

He pointed out that the reasons why we need to discuss certain topics are the fact that Bečić's cabinet congratulated the arrest before it happened, and the problems caused to the minor children of Jelena Perović and the arrest in handcuffs in order to carry out some media propaganda.

"I don't see that any other committee should initiate this hearing," Zivkovic said.

According to him, when people are targeted in the media, on the day when the verdict comes, the bias of the judge is suspected.

Slađana Kaluđerović from the Socialist People's Party (SNP) said that she found it objectionable that the DPS was invited to the hearing, and that during their rule all communication with EUROPOL was interrupted, as well as the situation that "the judge was chosen because she their".

"It is impossible that Novović, Šoškić, Šuković were part of the system even before 2020, and that they were responsible then, and now they are not. We can't be surprised why Perović ended up with handcuffs, but why she didn't end earlier," she said. she.

"PES is the reserve bench of DPS"

In the discussion with Pižurica, Živković called PES "the reserve bench of DPS".

"A large number of PES officials were in the DPS. One of the people who could not be the president of this board (Miodrag Laković) because he was in the police system while it was headed by Veselin Veljović," he assessed and added that their views on foreign policy are identical to those of the DPS.

Živković reminded that some PES MPs were ambassadors during the DPS rule, as well as the case of the party's list holder in Andrijevica, who was a DPS councilor.

Laković: The Security Committee is not competent; Živković Katnić arrested more DPS officials than Novović

Laković pointed out that his party agreed that they cannot classify the work of competent prosecutorial bodies, and that the Security Council is not competent, so they will not vote for the hearing.

Živković replied that he doubts the selectivity because the reports against Prime Minister Milojko Spajić have been pending for a year, the reports against Bratic longer than that, and Perović is arrested 18 days after the report.

He noted that "more DPS officials were arrested by Katnić than Novović" but that because of certain reports that were neither accepted nor rejected, he doubts the selectivity.
