Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today in New York ahead of the vote in the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on the resolution on Srebrenica that Montenegro played a "dirty role" with its amendments and that the initiation of that initiative created a rift in the region.
"The Montenegrin amendments played a very dirty role, but it's not Montenegro's fault, it's just someone's errand because it was done on someone's order," Vučić told the media from the United States of America (USA), adding that there will be disappointing news regarding some other issues. country.
He added that he believes that many who will vote for the resolution on Thursday will later justify that they are doing it for the good of Serbia and that they will give an explanation and repeat that it does not mean the collective guilt of the Serbian people.
"We received the data, there will be disappointing news regarding the attitude of some countries that we did not expect to stab us in the back. We expected pressure and changes in attitude. There will be those who are ready to fight for the truth and withstand the pressure until the end. Some will remain silent and in the end they will side with those who are big and strong," said the Serbian president.
Vučić said that it is ironic and paradoxical that Germany will be the only one to have an opening speech at the session of the UN General Assembly on Thursday, where they will seek support for the proposal for a resolution on Srebrenica.
"After the First and Second World Wars, how can Germany judge us with an opening address? But I will be there to answer, even though it will be difficult for me in terms of remaining in power after that," said Vučić.
Vučić stated that he is reviewing the reasons why the resolution is being passed, what is the intention of those who initiated it and which countries are submitting it, and that he concluded that the resolution is in fact a political issue.
"Why are they passing a resolution at this moment? Will it unite anyone, people in BiH and in the region. No, nothing has divided the region more than this. Neither the Germans, nor those in Sarajevo, could have made a worse decision. What do they want to achieve with it? . What will you do tomorrow, since you've opened Pandora's box," he repeated.
He announced that tonight he will meet with the representatives of Russia and China at the United Nations and that he is convinced that China, as a great friend, will vote against.
Vučić has been in New York since Monday, continuing contacts ahead of the vote on Thursday, May 23, in the UN General Assembly on the proposal to adopt a UN resolution on the International Day of Remembrance and Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide.
Earlier today, he met with the Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the United Nations, Muhammad Abu Shahab, then with the representatives of Uganda, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The draft Resolution on the International Day of Remembrance and Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica was included in the agenda of the 82nd Plenary Session of the UN General Assembly under the item Culture of Peace. The resolution, which condemns the denial of genocide and the glorification of war criminals, was proposed by Germany and Rwanda, and among its sponsors are more than 30 countries, including the Quinte countries.
