In light of the commitment to improving the quality of life of families and support for newborn children, on June 1 this year, a new legal solution and a new progressive model of benefits for newborns, which was adopted by the Parliament of Montenegro, will enter into force, providing 1000 euros for the first-born, 1500 for the second-born. , 2000 euros for the third-born, 2500 euros for the fourth-born and each subsequent one.
This progressive model is part of the broader efforts of Democratic Montenegro to improve the demographic picture and provide additional security to parents and strengthen all families in Montenegro.
WHAT DOES THIS MODEL REPRESENT?
The new progressive model foresees the payment of benefits for newborn children up to 2500 euros, 1000 euros for the first child, 1500 euros for the second child, 2000 euros for the third, and 2500 euros for the fourth and each subsequent child.
This model was adopted unanimously, at the proposal of the Democratic Club of MPs, through amendments to the Law on Social and Child Protection, which, in addition to the new model, also increases the basic allowance for newborns.
Instead of the previous 109 euros and the previous 900 euros, in the future parents will be paid benefits of up to 2500 euros, depending on whether the child is the first-born, second-born, third-born or fourth-born.
The progressive model is based on moral responsibility towards future generations. By providing financial support to families in this way, a strong message is sent to value and support parenthood, to care for the well-being of children and to build a society that fosters a sense of community and solidarity.
Through this measure, the foundations are laid for the sustainable future of our society. Young couples are encouraged to choose to expand their families, thus creating a stable and sustainable population that will be key to our economic and social security for years to come.
WHEN DOES THE LAW COME INTO FORCE AND HOW CAN YOU EXERCISE THIS RIGHT?
The new Law on Social and Child Protection, which contains the new measure, will enter into force on June 01, 2024. Couples who become parents after the entry into force of this law will be paid an amount of 1000 euros this year, and the difference up to the full amount of the approved compensation according to the progressive model will be paid at the beginning of 2025.
The manner of implementing this measure will be regulated in more detail by the regulation of the competent state administration body, which will be harmonized within 30 days from the date of entry into force of this Law.
RESTORED CHILDREN'S ALLOWANCES, PROVIDED FREE TEXTBOOKS, BENEFITS FOR MOTHERS, ELDERLY BENEFITS AND BENEFITS FOR NEWBORN BABIES
After the introduction of child allowances, free textbooks, the return of benefits to mothers, increases in wages, pensions and old-age benefits, this step is part of a broader strategy that will include additional support measures for families in the coming period.
This progressive compensation model is not only an economic measure, but also an initiative aimed at encouraging positive demographic change. It is believed that this increase will help parents with family planning, allowing them to focus on the most important job - raising their children.
It continues with the implementation of policies that directly affect the improvement of the quality of life of citizens, at the same time creating conditions for a stable and prosperous society. The increase in benefits for newborns is only one of the steps towards a better future for all citizens.
THE DEPUTY CLUB OF THE DEMOCRATS PROPOSED TO PAY COMPENSATION TO THE FORMER WORKERS OF THE WOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRY IN THE AMOUNT OF 12.000 EUR
MPs Boris Bogdanović, Zdenka Popović, Anđela Vojinović, M.Sc., Nikola Rovčanin, Albin Ćeman, Ph.D., Momčilo Leković and Duško Stjepović proposed to the Parliament of Montenegro the Law on compensation for workers in the wood processing industry, which partially corrects decades of injustice towards former workers who remained in the transition period unemployed in the wood processing industry sector.
The law provides for the acquisition of the right to a one-time compensation in the amount of 12 euros for solving the social and financial problems of former employees from the wood processing industry sector, who, due to the introduction of bankruptcy proceedings, were left without the possibility of further business engagement, exercising the right to the full amount of pensions and without funds based on social programs.
