The president of the Democratic People's Party, Milan Knežević, said that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić promised him and the leader of the New Serbian Democracy Andrija Mandić, before leaving for an official visit to Germany, that Montenegro would abstain from voting on the proposal for a resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in the United Nations.
"He asked us not to make waves, not to put him in an unpleasant situation, and I didn't open my mouth until he went to Germany. He was there for 15 days, he was in Germany longer than Scholz. When he returned from Germany, he changed his attitude. And then they came out to us with amendments and said - it's for our good", Knežević said in a guest appearance on Happy television.
He says that the elections in Budva showed that "betrayal does not pay".
"They showed that two Serbian groups won an absolute majority, but we wouldn't be Serbs if they hadn't quarreled in the meantime. Now it's up to us to reconcile," he said.
The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, followed that up by saying: "Mandić will solve it."
