The holder of the list "Dr. Vujičić Božidar - For real changes" Božidar Vujičić submitted to the State Election Commission (SEC) an objection to the decision of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC), which rejected his objection to the legality of the Budva elections.
We remind you that Vujičić emphasized in his complaint that citizens with the right to vote on election day could not freely choose representatives in the Assembly of the Municipality of Budva, but could only vote for lists.
"The MEC prescribed the appearance and content of the ballot, referring to the provisions of the Law on the Election of Councilors and Members of Parliament. The ballot gave voters the opportunity to vote only for the list, not for the candidate from the electoral list," stated Vujičić, claiming that this violated the Constitution, as well as international regulations, the European Charter on Local Self-Government and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
"The aforementioned international treaties and generally accepted rules of international law clearly indicate that the ballot must be drawn up in such a way as to give citizens with the right to vote the opportunity to vote and be elected, and not for councilors to be elected by the submitters of electoral lists, who determine the order of candidates on the electoral lists, to they directly elect their representatives in SO Budva, that the results of the elections are an expression of the will of the citizens, and not of the applicants of the electoral lists, that they exercise the right to be elected without discrimination and to give their vote to the electoral lists and candidates", said Vujičić.
