President of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) Andrijevica Veselin Vulević told "Vijesti" in response to the accusations of the Europe Now Movement (PES) that he assumed that it was a complaint by the Socialist People's Party (SNP) that was rejected by the State Election Commission (SEC), and not MEC Andrijevica.
"Namely, the SEC refused certain persons to be members of election committees because they are on the list of the SNP-Democrat coalition, to which the SNP filed an appeal, which the SEC rejected," Vulević told "Vijesti".
He said that yesterday the SNP proposed members of election committees, some of whom were on the lists.
Vulević said that he could not call the session so quickly, because the members had to visit the polling stations, and that he called the members on the phone and explained the problem to them, and that, except for one member, they all agreed to refuse.
According to him, certain members of the MEC later filed an objection to the SEC's decision.
"Acting on the complaint, the SEC ordered the MEC to hold a session at six o'clock around midnight. The session was scheduled during the night, and was held at the scheduled time, we had a quorum and the conclusions reached the night before in the telephone session were confirmed, and SEC and SNP have been notified of this," Vulević said.
He pointed out that "the writings of PES represent a conspiracy against him".
He also said that these are "ordinary lies".
PES announced earlier today that the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) is preparing election theft and that it will file a criminal complaint against Vulević.
"PES expresses deep concern and indignation due to the serious irregularities that occurred within the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) of Andrijevica. The President of the MEC Andrijevica, Veselin Vulević, who was nominated for this position by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), grossly violated the law, falsifying and abusing his position. He presented his personal opinion as an official decision of the Municipal Election Commission, which is a collective body and decides by the votes of the majority," stated PES.
From that party, they added that, acting on their urgent complaint, the SEC adopted the complaint, thus confirming the allegations of the PES about the illegal actions of the president of the MEC Andrijevic.
"This act represents a serious violation of the electoral process, offends it into electoral theft and threatens the integrity of the electoral will of the citizens of Andrijevica. In connection with the above, the PES will file a criminal complaint against the president of the MEC Andrijevica due to suspicion of abuse of official position, and we are already calling on the competent authorities to take action urgent measures to prevent further abuses that have already been announced. In order to preserve the electoral will of the citizens of Andrijevica, PES will fight against any further form of abuse and manipulation of the electoral process," said the party headed by the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić. .
Local elections in Andrijevica are being held today.
