The Women's Club of the Assembly achieved significant results by consensus in just four months, and on the initiative of that club, two laws were adopted and the Rules of Procedure were amended, so that now the Women's Club is officially recognized and has its own service, space and finances, said the Vice President of the Assembly Zdenka Popović.
She and Romanian Ambassador Viorel Ardeleanu met today in the parliament.
"For the first time in history, in cooperation with UNICEF and the International Women's Club, we organized a Donor's Night to help children with developmental disabilities and provided 167.000 euros in aid, and we expect that figure to exceed 200.000 euros by the end of the payment deadline. In this way, we have ensured that 700 children with developmental disabilities receive the necessary support," said Popović, as stated in the announcement.
Popović expressed her desire to establish inter-parliamentary cooperation between MPs from Montenegro and Romania in the field of gender equality in order to exchange experiences.
The meeting was also attended by the president of the Committee for International Relations and Emigrants, Duško Stjepović, who pointed out that Montenegro and Romania traditionally have excellent relations, "which has been confirmed by countless examples in our common history, and especially in our recent past". "Of course", as Stjepović pointed out, "we are looking forward to a common future in the European Union, nothing less than a credible and allied friendship within the framework of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization".
Ardeleanu said that in Romania, women have a significant position when it comes to the largest companies and that they cover 40 percent of director positions, while in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, women make up 60 percent of the collective.
Ardeleanu praised the latest initiative of the Women's Club in the form of the Donor's Evening and pointed out that it was an honor for him to have had the opportunity to contribute to that event.
"Montenegro has our full support in obtaining a positive IBAR and I am sure that Montenegro will soon be a member of the European Union," concluded Ardeleanu.
