The possible non-signing of the law that was adopted in the parliament last night does not jeopardize the receipt of the Report on the fulfillment of temporary benchmarks in chapters 23 and 24 (IBAR), said Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević.

She said in Dnevnik Television of Montenegro that last night a message was sent from the parliament that Montenegro wants to see itself as the next member of the European Union (EU).

According to her, the part concerning diplomacy is now expected.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) played a key role in the communication with our European partners in the previous months, and in the days ahead, that communication will be faster, but also more difficult," said Gorčević.

She pointed out that the MFA will be in charge of convincing all 27 members to vote for obtaining IBAR at the Intergovernmental Conference.

As reported by the RTCG portal, Gorčević believes that IBAR cannot be threatened if the president of the country, Jakov Milatović, does not sign the laws.

"The eventual non-signing of the law does not endanger IBAR", said Gorčević.

As she stated, the signing of the law is of a formal and ceremonial nature.

"So if they are not signed in the following days, they will be signed already after the second set of votes. What I can do is express my regret that we do not have a consensus at the level of the three presidents when it comes to EU integration," said Gorčević.

She said that at the end of June, when the Intergovernmental Conference is planned, the Government will deal with all the chapters that have not been completed.

"I must mention that we have closed only three chapters so far, so a large number of challenges await us in terms of finances, experts and human capacities, due to the fact that our administration does not have a large number of people dealing with this part", added Gorčević.
