Živković: We want to change ourselves in order to change the country for the better

We want to change ourselves in order to change the country for the better. It is necessary for every party to go through the experience of the opposition. The opposition acts as a good therapy for any policy, if we want to understand in the right way what the public wants to tell us, said the leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijel Živković.

According to the press release of the DPS Public Relations Service, he opened the conference where DPS Tivat elected members of the Municipal Board.

Živković, as they said, recalled the successes that DPS Tivat achieved in the previous period in this city. Although a lot has been done in most municipalities, thanks to which they are still today, as he said, the strongest party on the political scene of Montenegro, "we are currently in the opposition. This does not discourage us."

He pointed out that it was the policy of the DPS that contributed to the key development of the state.

"We, together with our coalition partners, traced the path of Montenegro towards the adoption of European democratic values. I am proud of all our results. Our political opponents have appropriated our policy, some declaratively, some allegedly essentially. And Montenegro continued its European This is proof that we don't need mentoring from any address. We have shown through history that we are doing well ourselves, but we cannot allow ourselves to be talked about "We are someone's colony. We can think differently politically, but aim for the same goal," said Živković.

Živković reminded that it was said that the DPS would defend the government in all ways, "which did not happen, that is the process of emancipation of Montenegrin society."

"Today, I do not recognize enough political maturity in the competition for them to accept defeat as well. This can be seen in Andrijevica, Šavnik, Ulcinj, which is not good for the democratic processes that are taking place. We remain faithful to our way of working, because it is our contribution to the democratic emancipation of society. That's why it's important for us to set things right in our house. That's why we started to reform the party, not to be more or less acceptable to someone, but for our own sake we lost in the previous period.

Many wished that we disappear from the political scene, I understand that kind of indignation, I do not want anyone to disappear from the Montenegrin political scene, it is good that we have pluralism, but what I want is for some political subjects to move from the position of power to the opposition, because I believe , however subjective it may be, that they deserve to return to the opposition because of their political activity. Every policy should be given the opportunity and space to show itself in the right light. We had that opportunity for 25 years and showed what we know, both good sides and some bad practices. There is no doubt that any bad practice, where we take over the vast, must no longer happen. This is a reminder and a warning given to us by the citizens. Now we have to use the opportunity to show that this is a new political generation, that it has a slightly different approach to politics and that, according to this new political platform, we deserve the trust of the citizens again," he emphasized.

According to him, if the persistence that "the anti-DPS platform is the key platform in Montenegro continues, the country will fail."

That kind of exclusivity leads to the collapse of the country. The parliamentary majority is bound by DPS. The results at the state level show how bizarre it is. You need to be united by some program, vision, investments, projects, and maybe also ideologies and values, it is not disputed. We know what their lines of action are. But we will never come to terms with that policy. We will not give up our anti-fascist heritage, independent Montenegro, NATO and European values," Živković pointed out, adding that citizens' trust can only be restored through elections.

"There are no possible permutations that they are trying to foist on the Montenegrin public. We want elections to measure our strength. Why? Because we are sure of our strength," he concluded.
