The United Kingdom (UK) remains committed to supporting the aspirations and efforts of Montenegro to ensure a stable and prosperous future for its citizens, said the British ambassador in Podgorica, Don McCann.
The British Embassy marked this important holiday with a festive celebration at the McCann residence on the occasion of the birthday of King Charles III.
The British Embassy announced that the celebration brought together guests from political life, the non-governmental sector, the media, the diplomatic corps, Chiving scholars, as well as guests from other spheres of cooperation between the British Embassy and Montenegro.
McCann pointed out that the partnership between the UK and Montenegro is close and added that the UK is one of many Montenegrin friends.
"We remain committed to our support for the aspirations and efforts of Montenegro to ensure a stable and prosperous future for its citizens," McCann said.
She said that the UK strongly supports the Montenegrin focus on economic, structural and judicial reforms, as well as efforts to improve the quality of life of citizens.
"We are working hand-in-hand with Montenegrin colleagues on key issues, including strengthening rule of law institutions and the fight against organized crime, building Montenegrin resilience to cyber threats, supporting the development of your education system and other aspects of transformation that pave the way to what we all want for our children - better tomorrow," McCann said.
The wife of the President of Montenegro, Milena Milatović, said that Montenegro and the UK confirm that culture is the soul of every nation.
"Both cultures abound in rich heritage, art, tradition, but also innovation and new ideas. Through cultural exchange, cooperation between artists and institutions, we can enrich the lives of our citizens, deepening mutual understanding and friendship," said Milatović.
As she stated, cooperation in the field of education, as well as the struggle for equality in all segments, shows that universal values transcend borders in the atlas.
"Young people are the engine of every successful society. That is why I am particularly proud of the fact that more and more young people are choosing to study in the United Kingdom, but also that our country is home to a large number of Britons, whether they come as students or tourists," Milatović pointed out.
The Embassy said that this event marks His Majesty's special day and offers an opportunity to emphasize the permanent friendship between the UK and Montenegro, as well as the common values and various ties that connect the two countries.
The announcement states that British-Montenegro relations have an extremely long and rich history.
"Cultural ties between the United Kingdom and Montenegro are significant, with numerous events, educational programs and sports meetings that further strengthen our friendship and cooperation to achieve common goals," the statement said.
It is emphasized that today the two countries are partners in the NATO alliance and share common values and a vision of security and stability.
"The embassy cooperates with Montenegrin state institutions and the government, as well as with numerous international and local partners, on issues of mutual interest," the announcement states.
The Embassy pointed out that these common priorities led to cooperation in the field of regional stability and defense, support in the fight against organized crime and corruption, promotion of the rule of law, support for democracy, including media freedom and inclusion.
They said that through the work of the British Council, they continue to promote support in the fields of cultural exchange and education.
In the United Kingdom, the official birthday of King Charles III is celebrated with great festivities, including the traditional "Trooping the Color" parade, which draws thousands of spectators.
"This event is an opportunity for British citizens to express their gratitude and respect for the King and his service to the country and people," the statement said.
