Klikovac: Injac should resign

The head of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) councilors' club in the capital's assembly, Andrija Klikovac, announced today that the mayor of Podgorica, Olivera Injac, should resign.

"After today's fiasco and conflict at the meeting between PES and former PES officials, Mayor Injac would resign. The language of violence and physical incidents have not been a feature of the Capital City Assembly until today. Podgorica needs recovery," wrote Klikovac on the social network Iks.

The meeting of representatives of the Europe Now Movement (PES) and the Movement for Podgorica, which consists of the former councilors of that party, was held today in the Assembly of the Capital City.

At the meeting of the ruling majority in the local parliament held on June 11, representatives of the other constituents of the government asked PES and the Movement for Podgorica to make an agreement on resolving the crisis in the capital by Monday or to announce that extraordinary local elections will be held.

Member of the Movement for Podgorica, Nađa Ljiljanić, said after the meeting that the meeting was interrupted due to various insults, and that no agreement was reached.

After that, the PES Podgorica Club of Councilors announced that they were asking the Movement for Podgorica: "What do you want from PES so that you would not go towards DPS?".

Vasilije Čarapić, the head of the PES parliamentary group in the Parliament of Montenegro and the president of the group of councilors of that party in the Capital City Assembly, said afterwards that he would withdraw from the negotiations in order to facilitate the eventual reaching of an agreement between the PES and the Movement for Podgorica.
