Nikšić Municipality President Marko Kovačević said that he did not mention Montenegrins or any other people in Montenegro in a negative context during his speech in Grahovo.
"I mentioned the Turks in the context of the past and the struggle that our ancestors led, first of all, to defend their hearths and to free themselves from the yoke of that time, and not in the context of today's Turks and relations with Turkey," Kovačević said.
In his speech, he mentioned that those who do not want to be like brothers, but look like Turks, will be treated like Turks. addressing, as he said, "former rulers and their followers".
"Of course, the dark centers of power had to spend a few days to construct the story, prepare the context as it suits them, to start the media hype and the chase. In all of this, it is easiest to choose someone who has long since become a target of such centers of power, so then you don't have to to additionally take into account the truth, the context, the event that is being commemorated, those who interfere with religious ceremonies and provoke during this commemoration," Kovačević wrote on his Facebook profile.
He said that the competent authorities do not take into account the fact that they let the person who threatened him and his family into the immediate vicinity.
"...who came from the diaspora and was not brought to testify about the threats she sent to me, but was brought to Grahovac to be in my immediate vicinity where she might be able to carry out those threats. All that was and remains unimportant. Important is just to bring everything into a different context, as many times before. The intentions are certainly about something else and time will reveal them easily," said Kovačević.
He added that the fact that, as he says, he emphasized the need for reconciliation and the patience to achieve that reconciliation is being deliberately omitted in all media or declared irrelevant...
"... with an open heart and a desire to be brothers, but with a clear indication that we will continue to be ready to defend our sanctuaries from those who have already tried to alienate them," Kovačević said.
