In Budva, we know who the criminal structures are that were involved in political processes in various ways, and they wanted to take over power in our city, said the president of the Budva Municipal Assembly (SO) and holder of the "Budva our city" list, Nikola Jovanović.

"It is about the criminal structures that appeared after Milo Bozović was detained. Those structures wanted to take over power in Budva through a certain number of councilors," Jovanović claimed.

In the show "Last week" on A Plus television, Jovanović touched on the topic of the President of the Municipality of Budva, Milo Božović, who is in custody, stating that the information that he allegedly bought votes for the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) is not correct.

"Božović denied that he bought votes for DPS. I have known him long enough, he has a serious opposition anti-DPS record, he has been in politics for a very long time and fought against DPS for a long time, so that information is really not correct," he said. Jovanovic.

There is no cooperation with NSD, SNP under the influence of criminal structures

Commenting on the results of the elections in Budva, Jovanović said that he is optimistic about the formation of the government in this coastal city, and he is convinced that there will be no repeat elections.

"We are certainly ready for that option and look forward to a repeat election," he said.

He reminded that July 7 is the deadline for the constitutive session to be held and mandates to be verified.

He repeated which political subjects he would not cooperate with, and he also said that after the election there were informal talks about the formation of the government.

"Usually, calculations are made after the election, but there is no such thing here. We will not negotiate with NSD and DPS, but we talked with the Democrats. There was enough speculation after the election, and what is certain is that our list won the largest number of mandates and that gives us the electoral legitimacy to form the government. Because of the tourist season that is in full swing in Budva, the government should be established within the legally stipulated period," said Jovanović.

Speaking about cooperation with the Socialist People's Party (SNP), Jovanović said that immediately after the informal talks, they fell silent. He claims that it is the influence of criminal structures in Budva.

"I don't think there's anything from their independent action in Budva. They will be guided solely by their interests, but in Budva they are not given that much freedom, so I think they will listen to what the criminal structures and officials tell them," Jovanović concluded.

The Budva Municipal Election Commission (MEC) previously announced the final results of the local elections in Budva held on May 26, according to which the election list "Budva our city – Nikola Jovanović" received the support of 2.671 voters or 23,91 percent and won nine mandates.

The list "Democrats - Strengthen. Renovate. Revive. - Budva Decides - Đorđe Zenović" received 1.194 votes or 10,70 percent (four mandates).

The list "For the future of Budva - Budva open city - Mladen Mikijelj" received the support of 2.842 voters or 25,44 percent, or nine mandates.

The list "Europe now - Budva has a chance - Dr Predrag Zenović" was voted by 784 voters or 7,02 percent (two mandates), the Montenegrin European Party by 239 voters or 2,14 percent, and "DPS - Budva can do better - Prof. Nikola Milović" 2.228 voters or 19,94 percent (seven mandates).

List "URA - Dr. Dritan Abazović - Different!" led by Blažo Radjenović was supported by 550 voters or 4,92 percent, the list "Clean Choice - Petar Odžić - SDP, SD, LP and Citizens" was supported by 514 voters or 4,60 percent, and they each won one mandate.

The list "Dr Vujičić Božidar – For real changes" was voted by 149 voters or 1,33 percent, so it remained below the census, as did the list of the Montenegrin European Party.

The formation of the government requires the support of 17 councilors out of a total of 33 in the Budva parliament. Jovanović sees the Democrats, SDP, URA as coalition partners, as well as the Democratic People's Party (DNP) and the Socialist People's Party (SNP), which within the coalition led by Mikijelj (NSD) each won two council mandates.
