The Mediabiro Agency reports that the memorial service for the former President of Montenegro, Momir Bulatović, was held today in the village of Raći in Kuč.
That agency states that on the occasion of commemorating five years since the death of Momir Bulatović and 16 years since the death of his son Boško, family, friends, colleagues and a large number of representatives of public and political life in Montenegro gathered, while the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, Joanikije, served the memorial service. .
"It is thanks to his intelligence and good judgment that Montenegro is the only one of the former Yugoslav republics where a civil war did not take place. Peace and stability were important determinants in the politics of Momir Bulatović, and as a man and as a person who stuck to traditional Montenegro, he did so that the bad things that Montenegro is known for today in the world will stop. Today, the consequences of this are the fight that we are leading for Montenegro to be free and to be free from crime and corruption, so that in Montenegro we can all be brothers to each other, as Momir Bulatović wanted," Mandic said.
Joanikije said that Momir Bulatović was a thinker who could rise above daily and local politics and think on a planetary level.
"As time passes, his thought gains more and more importance. When he entered politics as a young man with ideals carrying in his heart the thought of Kosovo, it seems that one of his first public appearances was with that thought. He left his family, his to the brotherhood, to the people and to Montenegro, Momir Bulatović rose above his time and showed that he is a man. May this memorial be a blessing to his family, his relatives and Montenegro that he left a wonderful memory on earth, which is why we can always gather around his grave, in his homeland, next to this wonderful shrine, with respect, piety and love," said Joanikije.
Former Minister of Finance, politician and economist, Aleksandar Damjanović said that it is not easy to preserve oneself and honesty in politics, and that few can preserve themselves.
"Momir was the one who preserved himself and who preserved all of us in the way he understood politics. There have been changes in Montenegro that Momir stood for, and it is up to us who deal with politics to preserve this country, inheriting the best tradition in the way that the late Momir did it. Montenegro deserves to be repaid in the right way. I hope that the idea of the monument that the former president of our country will receive in Podgorica will be realized. I invite the current authorities to take certain steps in that direction," said Damjanović.
On behalf of the family, Ivan Bulatović addressed the audience and thanked all the people who gathered in memory of Momir and his son Boško Bulatović.
Nina Bulatović, Momir's daughter and Boško's sister, also spoke.
"Boško Bulatović was a man of rare and special spiritual structure, and everyone who knew him and was close to him knew that. Boško left at the age of 21 as a sage. Boško is my greatest life lesson. Momir Bulatović was not only mine Momir Bulatović was a man of this nation, both those who knew him and those who did not knew him directly they can only call for a beautiful emotion, and that is confirmed today, because all the people who came today, came with a full heart. It is a real wealth for my mother and I. Today, I convey my gratitude with all my being to Boško and Momir for all that they were in this earthly world and what they are now," said Bulatović.
