It is really beneath all dignity that we listen to the moral tirades of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, who is trying to act like a kind of father of the nation, which the citizens of this country simply do not want anymore, announced today Mirko Miličić, the spokesperson of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD).
He was reacting to yesterday's statement by Milatović, who said that he was sorry that the Movement Europe had now "become a political puppet".
"I'm sorry that the party I created, which played a decisive role in the overthrow of the former regime, has today become a political puppet," Milatović wrote yesterday on an account on the X network.
Miličić said that "the first man of the state, its president Jakov Milatović, these days, with indescribable ease, makes accusations at the expense of yesterday's partners and people who, through their political advocacy, led to his being elected to that position".
"We are sorry that the President of Montenegro, who should be a representative of all citizens, isolates himself more and more these days from his friends until now and tries to impose the narrative of 'the state is me', which was carried out by his predecessor in that position," he pointed out. Miličić said in the statement.
He added that it is a great pity that Milatović took that path, and that he is now closer to those he fought against in the second round of the presidential elections.
"We would remind Mr. Milatović that he is in the position of President of Montenegro with the votes of the voters of the Europe Now Movement (PES), but also of the former Democratic Front (DF) and the other winners on August 30, and that therefore he should ask himself whether the positions that these days it is (in)correct. At the entrance to Nikšić there is still a slightly faded billboard - 'Let's beat Milo Đukanović, let's vote for Milatović!' with the signature of the Democratic Front. The next time he comes to the town under Trebjes and sees that billboard, he should ask himself if he would be where he is if there were no such messages and work on the ground," Miličić said.
According to him, no one in the parliamentary majority is anyone's puppet.
"On the contrary, such relations are over in Montenegro. As we have shown in the past six months, the future of Montenegro lies in dialogue and compromise, not in command and control. At the very end, it is especially important to emphasize that the reality, in contrast to President Milatović's statement, it is completely different - the fight against DPS did not start in 2022, as he states, with the formation of the movement that he left, but almost 35 years ago, and the decisive role in overthrowing the former regime was played by those political organizations that fought persistently against a wicked regime. The decisive role was played by those people who sent the DPS into the past at protests, rallies, and later with paper and pen, and these people do not remember any contribution of Jakov Milatović, so he should choose his words much more carefully, if for no other reason, then out of reverence for those who are no longer with us," said Miličić.
