The President of the Parliament of Montenegro and the leader of the New Serbian Democracy Andrija Mandić and the President of the Democratic People's Party Milan Knežević invited the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, to visit Montenegro, i.e. Berane, on July 12, St. Peter's Day.
Knežević invited Vučić to visit Montenegro directly in their joint guest appearance on Belgrade's First Television.
Vučić said that "July is so full", then added that he "doesn't know" if he has time, but that "he will certainly find it, maybe it would be best on St. Peter's Day".
"As long as we ask ourselves, and I believe we will ask ourselves, Montenegro will never be an anti-Serb state again. I want to invite Aleksandar Vučić on my behalf and on behalf of the President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrije Mandić and all the Serbs in Montenegro to visit us in July. I would like it to be in Berane to visit the temple of St. Simeon Mirotočiv, which the Serbian state and the Government headed by Vučić dominated and participated in its renovation the closest and most fraternal country to us - Serbia," said Knežević.
Asked if he would accept the invitation, the Serbian president replied:
"July is so full that I don't know if I have, and I will definitely find, maybe it would be best on St. Peter's Day. But I am not sure which of the guests will be in Belgrade on that day. But during July I am ready and with the greatest joy to visit Berane and Vasojević and I am talking to the people of Hala Milan on the invitation".
On Friday, after the passing of the Resolution on Genocide in the Jasenovac, Dachau and Mauthausen concentration camps, Mandić said that he would like to welcome compatriots in Montenegro for St. Peter's Day, "especially the most responsible ones from Belgrade and Banja Luka, to say a brotherly greeting and to say that we are a serious people and that this region has a future".
Mandić, guest last night on Prva TV, commented on the announcement that Serbian politicians would come to Montenegro for Petrovdan, and recalling the visit of the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, said that he expected that he would like them to come for Petrovdan or any other day.
"It is a message of unity and a message to what should be a new voice from Montenegro. It was not easy for Serbia when Montenegro recognized independent Kosovo and they swore to Serbian Sparta. Every decision in the UN of Montenegro was anti-Serbian. This now is one message from the majority of Montenegro that we are sending to Srpska and Serbia," said Mandic.
