Radovanić: Two slaps from Brussels to the parliamentary majority, which can threaten our European path

"With a charlatan approach, Spajić and, the real leader of the parliamentary majority, Mandić, succeeded in getting, in just a few days after receiving a positive IBAR, Montenegro to reach the level of serious concern of our EU partners", assessed the general secretary of the URA Civil Movement

The deletion of the paragraph on Montenegro from the text of the declaration of the European Council, which was foreseen, along with the cancellation of Charles Michel's visit to Podgorica, are two clearly visible moves by which the European Union (EU) shows that it will not go lightly over the voted Resolution on Jasenovac and represent a kind of political slap to the ruling to the majority who come directly from Brussels, said Mileta Radovanić, Secretary General of the Citizens' Movement URA.

In a statement sent to the media, he said that due to the irresponsible policies of Spajić and Mandić, the reactions and moves coming these days from the EU unequivocally show that the IBAR euphoria served to the citizens was short-lived and that EU officials are deeply worried, questioning the sincerity of the ruling majority when it is about European integration.

"The passing of the Resolution on Jasenovac is interpreted in EU circles as a cheap political trick for the reason that the issue was put on the agenda of the Assembly immediately after the holding of the intergovernmental conference. After the cancellation of the visit of the President of the European Council, the deletion of the paragraph from the text of the declaration represents another political slap in the face of the European Union Spajić and Mandić", assessed Radovanić.

The sentence that is excluded, reminds Radovanić, should have read that "the European Council welcomes the holding of the last intergovernmental conference with Montenegro and emphasizes the progress that Montenegro has achieved in its accession process".

"Progress was achieved through the constructive approach of all political subjects, and this sentence, as part of the declaration, should have meant strong support for our country by the heads of state or EU governments. However, with a charlatan approach, Spajić and, the real leader of the parliamentary majority, Mandić, managed to, in just a few days after receiving a positive IBAR, Montenegro reached the level of serious concern of our EU partners. This concern is reflected in such political moves that we are witnessing these days," said the General Secretary of the URA.

He added that with this approach, the parliamentary majority can endanger the European path.

"The government and the parliamentary majority are already seriously threatening the good-neighborly relations that Montenegro has built in recent years and for which it was recognized. The good-neighbor policy is high on the list of priorities for fulfilling the agenda for membership in the European Union, especially if we bear in mind that one of the neighbors is a member EU. Mandić and Spajić are doing everything against that goal," concluded Radovanić.
