The Consulate of Montenegro, headed by Honorary Consul Franćeska Đulijan, was opened yesterday in Bari, with the presence of a large number of high-ranking officials, representatives of the institutions of the region of Pula and the city of Bari, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Acting Director General for Consular Affairs and Cooperation with Emigration Ivana Đukanović pointed out at the ceremony that the Consulate headed by the Honorary Consul in Bari is the third that Montenegro has opened in Italy, "which speaks of our country's continued commitment" to further strengthening relations with Italy , especially at the regional and local level.
The newly appointed Honorary Consul Giuliano emphasized that he is honored that, in accordance with his new function, he will have the opportunity to promote Montenegro and its investment potential in that Italian region.
The mayor of Bari, Vito Laćeze, reminded of the historical ties that the city of Bari has with Montenegro. He expressed his satisfaction with the opening of the Consulate, with the expectation that, among other things, it will contribute to the greater interest of tourists from the Pula region in Montenegro, as well as from Montenegro to come to Bari.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Acting Director General Đukanović, in the presence of the Montenegrin Ambassador in Rome Milena Šofranac Ljubojević, during their visit to the Puglia region, had meetings with the newly appointed mayor of Bari, Vito Lećez, the president of the Fiera del Levante International Fair, Gaetano Fruli, and the deputy president of the Puglia region, Rafaele Piedmontese.
"During the talks, the importance of the development of economic cooperation between the two countries was pointed out, with the belief that with the opening of the honorary consulate in Bari, the traditionally good relations between Montenegro and the Pula region will be even richer and more substantial. The interlocutors agreed that additional efforts should be made in the coming period towards the creation of conditions for the air and sea connection of Montenegro and the region of Pula, and the improvement of the environment for further strengthening of economic cooperation", the announcement concludes.
