The club of councilors of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the Assembly of the Municipality of Berane called on the Ministry of Public Law to respond urgently and determine all violations of the Statute of the Municipality of Berane and the Law on Local Self-Government, after which the citizens of Berane would finally give their opinion on all political actors.
From this party, in a statement delivered to the media for the DF-Democrat coalition, which they called an "arrogant group", they said that without the support of the majority of councilors in the local parliament, they are usurping power, causing more and more damage to the citizens of Beran.
"After the latest events in the local parliament, we are witnessing an insurmountable crisis of power in our city. The politically planned resignation of the previous president of the Municipality of Berane, who himself is aware that there is no agreement on the appointment of his successor, has brought the city into a state of chaos. On the other hand, the Democrats in order to remain in power for at least a few days, they are not afraid of any kind of abuse.This arrogant group (DF-Democrats) without the support of the majority of the councilors is usurping the power, causing more and more damage to the citizens of Beran.
The latest events surrounding the session convened "by emergency procedure", which has been going on since June 25, with no prospect of ending, have exceeded all known legal procedures," states the statement of DPS Berana. To make the absurdity even greater, they add, by the second time we have a situation where the councilors who initiated the scheduling of the session and that according to the urgent order, do not come to the session.
"In the past six years, Mr. Democrats, you have had enough time to show your knowledge and fulfill your promises to the citizens, and now it is high time to act humanely and seriously, to admit that you do not have the support of the majority of councilors and that you do not know how to get out of the crisis that you have created with your greed, and allow this agony to be resolved in the only way prescribed by law, by shortening the mandate of the Berane Municipal Assembly," the statement said.
They reminded that for a long time the Club of DPS Councilors has been drawing the public's attention to the crisis in which their city has found itself, due to, as they say, party trades, blackmail and fighting over the parliamentary majority that no longer exists.
"We remind you that due to several resignations, the Municipality of Berane is officially without a president, both vice presidents and without an authorized person who would fulfill the obligations and ensure the minimum functionality of the local self-government as of yesterday.
Due to all of the above, we call for an immediate response from the Ministry of Public Administration, in order to establish all the facts and circumstances in the way the Municipality of Berana functions. It is necessary to take steps as soon as possible in order to determine all violations of the Statute of the Municipality of Berana and the Law on Local Self-Government, after which the citizens of Berana, in extraordinary local elections, would give their opinion on all political parties, on merit.
Gentlemen from the former parliamentary majority, the time of change in Berane is upon us, and the Democratic Party of Socialists is ready to wait for the moment to provide this city with a stable, serious and responsible government, which this city and its citizens deserve," the announcement concludes.
