The Parliamentary Club of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) demands from the competent state authorities, above all the Police Directorate, the National Security Agency and the State Prosecutor's Office, to treat with special attention the disturbing intelligence information that the assassination of the former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, is being planned, the head of that said. parliamentary club Andrija Nikolić.
"The fact that the Police Directorate was not informed that the ANB is in possession of operational knowledge that certain persons are preparing the murder of former President Đukanović, speaks of the fact that the security system in Montenegro is completely broken and that this circumstance favors those who plan such a crime. To make things worse, none of the leaders of the security sector found it necessary to explain to the citizens why the number of members of the former President of Montenegro's security was reduced, if it is known, based on data from Western security services, that Đukanović's murder has been planned since 2016. ", said Nikolić.
"The fact that someone within the security services of Montenegro assessed that the threat of arresting Đukanović no longer exists and that his security should be reduced, as well as the fact that after 2020, the campaign to criminalize Milo Đukanović intensified in order to nullify the achievements of the government that he personified in the era of the greatest emancipation of Montenegro, is a consequence of the weakness of the state, but also the bad intentions of the new government," adds the DPS representative.
He said that "it is not normal" that the coordinator of the Bureau for Operational Coordination of the Security Sector and the Prime Minister are not announced regarding the case that upset the Montenegrin public, but also after the "inadmissible confusion in the security sector".
"And that speaks more convincingly than anything else about the erosion of our political and security system. When you add to that the fact that many professionals from the security sector have been removed from the system, and that in the meantime politically eligible personnel have been promoted, the dilemma is legitimized: are our security services ours, or branches of larger security systems from the region," said Nikolić.
He said that the competent authorities owe answers to numerous questions and that the DPS will definitely review their actions as part of the parliamentary investigation.
"At this moment, it is important to take all necessary measures in order to protect the life of the former president of Montenegro and his family members, so that we do not witness the scenes that we saw early this morning in the United States," the statement concludes.
