Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić congratulated Roberta Metsola on her election as President of the European Parliament.
"The fact that President Metsoli was elected by the votes of 90 percent of European parliamentarians speaks of enormous legitimacy, breadth, previous quality in performing the function, but also the recognized moderate way of leading the European Parliament and sensitive processes," said Bečić.
He said that in the past few years he had several meetings with Metsola, both in the European Parliament in the capacity of President of the Assembly, and at EPP congresses in the capacity of President of the Democrats.
"Precisely at the last Congress of the European People's Party (EPP) a few months ago in Bucharest, where we strongly supported the candidacy of Ms. Metsoli and Von der Leyen for a new mandate, I expressed my belief that in the middle of the year Ms. Metsoli will receive a new mandate, and Montenegro IBAR and great progress on the European path. I'm glad that the predictions have come true, and I'm grateful to President Metsola for supporting the dynamism of Montenegro's European path," said Bečić.
