Today's session of the Nikšić Municipal Assembly was interrupted and the councilors will resume their work on Tuesday, at nine o'clock, said the president of the "European Team for Nikšić" club Boris Muratović, after the session of the collegium of the president of the local parliament.
The councilors of the Nikšić Municipal Assembly did not discuss today the proposal for the dismissal of the president of the Nikšić Municipality, Marko Kovačević, because the votes of the Coalition "For the Future of Nikšić" and the Democrats accepted the request of councilors from the aforementioned coalition to remove that item from the agenda of the session.
"We had a collegium on several occasions, and as we said at our session, due to such a shameful attitude towards opposition councilors today, as we promised the citizens of Nikšić, we persisted in this. We were ready to be in the premises until midnight the session of the SO Nikšić is being held, however, we reached an agreement and said that the session can be interrupted to provide a continuation for Tuesday at nine o'clock, when we will resume work, and thus we put an end to the fact that they tried to make our decision meaningless today ", Muratović told reporters.
Councilors from the "European Team for Nikšić" coalition and councilors from the Citizens' Movement URA were against removing the item from the agenda.
The councilors of the "European Team for Nikšić" coalition came out in front of the SO president's table earlier today and prevented the session from taking place, saying that the session will not take place until he allows them to say what they have.
The initiative for Kovačević's dismissal was submitted in mid-June by the Club of Councilors "European Team for Nikšić", and in addition to DPS councilors, it was also signed by Social Democrats (SD) councilors Nikola Zirojević, Liberal Party (LP) Jelena Marković and independent councilor Tatjana Knežević Perišić.
Ivan Zečević, on behalf of the Club of Councilors of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD), requested that the proposed decision on the dismissal of Kovačević be removed from the agenda.
"I believe that submitting this initiative is just one more in a series of attempts to cause unnecessary tension in the city. In my opinion, this initiative has no foundation, it is completely absurd. today, in the 21st century, they are trying to introduce the so-called verbal delict, which is completely contrary to the constitutional rights to freedom of speech and expression," said Zečević.
After the item was removed from the agenda, the president of DPS in this municipality, Boris Muratović, asked for three minutes to explain the initiative to remove Kovacevic, to which the president of the municipal assembly, Nemanja Vuković, asked him to refer to the point of the rules of procedure that allows him to do so.
Muratović said that this was normal practice, but Vuković did not allow him to speak until he stated what the point of the rules of procedure was.
Muratović was persistent in his intention to present their explanation.
Since they are not allowed to do so, the councilors of the European Team for Nikšić coalition came out in front of the stage and prevented the meeting from taking place. They said the meeting would not take place until he allowed them to say what they had.
There were verbal spats between them and the president of the Municipal Assembly, even Liberal Party councilor Jelena Marković said that Vuković and the Democrats allow fascism, but prevent them from speaking.
Vuković took a break, all the other government councilors went outside, and the opposition councilors remained in front of the lectern.
They demanded the dismissal because Kovačević, in his speech in Grahovac, on June 13 of this year, "called for a showdown with those who think differently from him and those similar to him and who do not consider them brothers, due to the continuous spread of national and religious hatred", as well as due to the feeling of fear and insecurity among the citizens of Nikšić.
Muratović: Democrats guard the seats, developed a special type of party recruitment
Muratović said that this is an ideal situation to describe the stability and democracy of the current local government in Nikšić.
He said that the fascist statement of Kovačević was condemned from all relevant addresses in the country and from international addresses, by the civil sector, NGOs, the president and the prime minister of the country....
"The same president of SO Nikšić who banned today after removing this item from the agenda, I repeat why this session was convened today, they did not have enough democratic capacity to allow us only three minutes to explain why we submitted this initiative today. So, we don't agree with what they did when they were in power, they didn't do any development projects for Nikšić," Muratović said.
He said that they demoted Nikšić in three years.
He said that they should not be surprised by the Democrats who "don't do it because they love Marko Kovačević, they do it because of the armchairs, because they can talk about dividing something that is foreign to them. In this way, divisions are encouraged and in this way they help fascism to flourish in our city, to attack the foundations of anti-fascist, civil, secular, multicultural and multinational Nikšić and Montenegro," said Muratović.
He claims that the Democrats have developed a special kind of party recruitment.
"It is family employment, that is, according to the family line, and thus they have closed the space for quality people who exist in their parties. Therefore, they cannot get a job if they are not related to Democratic officials. It is even more pleasant for them to stay in these local seats in power in Nikšić for another six months, rather than bear responsibility for such shameful actions of the first man of the city in front of the citizens of Nikšić", Muratović believes.
He added that they did not learn anything from the disastrous result in the parliamentary elections, and that it is not surprising that their current political value in Nikšić is only six percent.
"They are a pale shadow of the DF, a puppet of the DF and they play the way the DF plays. Both at the state and local level. It was necessary for them to allow us only three minutes to present our arguments".
LP councilor Jelena Marković said that "everyone who supports Marko Kovačević supports fascism", which is why she was given a reprimand.
"Democrats support the genocide of Montenegrins and fascism, let everyone know," said Marković.
