The President of the Nikšić Municipal Assembly, Nemanja Vuković, said that he could not allow the opposition to abuse the procedure for the umpteenth time. Although, as he pointed out, he understands the opposition's political need for a performance, he believes that the session could have continued after the performance ended.
The Nikšić Municipal Assembly did not discuss the proposal for the dismissal of Kovačević today, because the votes of the coalition "For the Future of Nikšić" and the Democrats accepted the request of councilors from the aforementioned coalition to remove that item from the session's agenda.
The initiative for the dismissal of Kovačević was submitted in mid-June by the Club of Councilors "European Team for Nikšić", and in addition to the councilors of the Democratic Party of Socialists, it was also signed by the councilors of the Social Democrats. Councilors from the coalition "European Team for Nikšić" and councilors from the Citizens' Movement URA were against removing the item from the agenda.
The councilors of the "European Team for Nikšić" coalition today came out in front of the SO president's table and prevented the session from taking place, saying that the session will not take place until he allows them to say what they have. Councilors will continue their work on Tuesday.
"At the insistence of the opposition, we reached an agreement at the collegium and accepted their demands, showing democratic capacity for the umpteenth time. This is something that I have insisted on as the President of the Assembly all these years, that we have an equal relationship with both the government and the opposition," Vuković said.
Although, as he pointed out, during the incident in the SO hall, announcements of chaos were heard, still, according to him, it is not their manner to throw the MPs out of the hall with the help of security, as DPS did when it had the majority.
"You saw the most brutal insults against fellow councilors from the Democrats, colleagues from the majority, but also against me. I tried to ignore that too, to write off the need for a political show and circus, and I didn't allow that circus to continue, but we took a break and tried to reach an agreement," Vuković said.

He pointed out that the DPS was best said by their list holder in the local elections, Sanja Damjanović, who left the Democratic Party of Socialists.
"I am really sorry that we have this type of obstruction, that political interests are put before the interests of citizens, and I am especially sorry that brutal lies and untruths are being presented, especially when we are not there but through the forms of statements and various announcements", were the words of Vuković who pointed out that they have repeatedly shown how much the armchairs are not important to them, but the will of the citizens and their well-being.
"My predecessor in this position had 250 euros of overtime compensation per month, which he also received upon termination of office. I and all officials in the Municipality of Nikšić renounced it. No Democratic official has ever taken compensation for working in commissions in these three years. We have waived all fees. On the other hand, DPS officials took 20.000 euros for two years only for work in the commissions, during the period when the Municipality of Nikšić was in debt, when it did not even have the means to service basic needs. In that period, you could buy an apartment in the city center for 20.000 euros. This is our relationship to the city and the country. We have given up all benefits and privileges, and this is something we do not use for political marketing, but something we truly believe in. "We don't use official cars for private purposes," said Vuković and added that, bearing in mind the abuses of DPS officials, it seems unconvincing when they invite someone to fight for seats and that no Montenegrin citizen believes that.
Unlike them, Vuković said, it suits the opposition councilors to stop the development of Nikšić, political instability and the stopping of large capital infrastructure projects whose implementation is underway, as well as those whose implementation has yet to begin. While the opposition councilors, according to the president of the SO Nikšić, are making a circus in the assembly hall, the local government, as he said, is trying to use the trust of the citizens in the best way and to fulfill what they promised.
As for the initiative to dismiss Kovačević, he said that they did not want to pass a political verdict before the final one and that their approach proved to be correct in the case of last year's initiative as well.
"I cannot go into the evaluations of the work of the prosecution. Today, I believe and am sure, no verdicts are ordered, no coordination is made with the president of the Supreme Court to visit the director of the kindergarten in Kolašin, no verdicts are ordered like coffee, there is no president of the Constitutional Court who himself violates the decision on the allocation of apartments to officials. I think that the judicial institutions and the prosecutor's office are free. You can see what their work is like, what their cooperation is like with the most respectable international and world services. I believe that the prosecution will express itself completely freely in relation to these circumstances and that no one will influence them because there are no more times when verdicts were ordered like coffee and there are no more prosecutors, judges and special and chief prosecutors and police directors who are officers one or two criminal clans", Vuković said and added that he advocates that every official, regardless of which party he belongs to, should be prosecuted for his wrongdoings.
"That's the only way we'll build a society tailored to all citizens, that's the only way we'll build a legal state, and that's the only way we'll be able to move forward as a country and achieve an even better standard of living for our fellow citizens."
