Vladimir Martinović will no longer be a minister in the Government of Montenegro, and Damjan Ćulafić will head the newly formed Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North in his place, it was announced tonight after the multi-hour session of the Presidency of Democratic Montenegro.
"Bearing in mind that due to the reconstruction of the Government and the division of several ministries, the Democrats have the obligation to determine a candidate for the new Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, the Presidency appoints Damjan Ćulafić as a candidate for the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, and thanks Vladimir Martinović, former minister in the 44th Government of Montenegro", it was announced after the session of the Presidency of the Democrats.
Ćulafić was supposed to be elected as the president of the Municipality of Berana, according to the coalition agreement. His appointment was opposed by Movement for Change councilors Miloš Rmuš and Milorad Đukić, who was expelled from the National Party of Serbian Democracy two days ago.
The announcement states that the leader of the Democrats, Aleksa Bečić, will also hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, Fighting Crime and Internal Policy in the reconstructed Government, while Momo Koprivica, Danilo Saranović, Dragan Krapović and Tamara Vujović will "continue to perform the functions they covered in the previous nine months".

"The presidency strongly affirms and welcomes the great results achieved by the new government in the field of European integration, which resulted in the award of IBARA, as well as the historic results achieved by the security sector and the prosecution in cooperation with international partners in the fight against organized crime and corruption, which confirms that there are no longer protected and untouchables in Montenegro, and that the state shows its strength and determination in building a rule of law every day," the announcement reads.
The Presidency of the Democrats also assessed that the continuation of progress on the European path by closing several chapters by the end of the year, the continuation of the determined fight in the field of the rule of law, as well as the continued economic and social empowerment of citizens is the key motive for our participation in government and the only path that guarantees security, stability and progress Montenegro.
