The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Gordan Grlić Radman, said that it is their sovereign assessment who they will declare undesirable in Croatia, and that the President of the Assembly Andrija Mandić, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić and MP Milan Knežević deserve it because they worsened relations between Montenegro and Croatian.
According to Večernji list, Grič said that Croatia has so far supported all activities of Montenegro in connection with the entry into the European Union.
However, he emphasized that the move that Montenegro recently took, which worsened relations between the countries, was unsuccessful in preserving good neighborly relations.
"Montenegro has shown by the act it was warned about, which is not in line with good neighborly relations, that it clearly does not care about relations with Croatia," Grlić Radman pointed out.
Regarding the possible blocking of Montenegro on the way to the EU, he emphasized: "We do not plan to block them in the EU, because blocking is usually not a European value and we avoid it as an instrument".
"However, there are always other mechanisms in order to influence certain decisions. Montenegro must meet certain criteria in order to complete certain procedures, and Croatia will jump in with our criteria, because they still have to answer some war questions. I believe that the moment has come for Montenegro to turn to the rule of law and pro-European values," he said.
Grlić Radman added that Montenegro must meet the final criteria in order to close the 23rd negotiation chapter. "War crimes, the issue of missing persons and compensation for camp inmates are unresolved issues and we have been waiting for answers for 32 years. The moment has come for Montenegro to turn to the rule of law, European values, and Croatia is its ally in that," added the Croatian minister, as reported by Tportal.
Grlić Radman emphasized, as reported by Jutarnji, that relations had already worsened with the decision to rename the swimming pool in Kotor after the former guard of the Morinj camp, by preventing his visit to the school ship Jadran in Tivat, and by attempts to name streets after Ratko Mladić and Pavlo Bulatović.
