The Committee for International Relations and Emigrants supported Borjanka SImićević as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to Ukraine on a resident basis with headquarters in Kiev.

The board was unanimous in its decision.

In her presentation before the members of the Committee, Simićević said that she has a career diploma and that she has been working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 15 years, and that she performed various duties there.

"In the diplomatic network of Montenegro, in the rank of second secretary, I worked in the Embassy of Montenegro in Budapest, as an adviser to the ambassador in Moscow... In addition to gaining knowledge and diplomatic skills and experience, I had the opportunity to look at the interests, priorities and strategic directions of development more broadly and more complexly the foreign policy of Montenegro, but also the challenges in international relations and the diplomatic service itself. I appreciate that I have certain references of a general diplomatic character, as well as comprehensive past work and knowledge about Ukraine itself, history, and present challenges," said Simićević.

She pointed out that work experience and both diplomatic engagements contributed to this, since Hungary is an important neighbor of Ukraine with, as she said, specific relations...

"Not to mention the experience at the embassy in Moscow, where I was able to see the genesis of contemporary Russian-Ukrainian relations and the roots of the crisis that is happening now," said Simićević.

She also spoke to the members of the Committee about the nature of the relationship between Montenegro and Ukraine and the ways and occasions in which Montenegro provided support to this country.

"Montenegro has supported Ukraine on a bilateral and multilateral level. On a bilateral level, it has provided military, humanitarian, financial and material aid on several occasions, it was the first country outside the EU to provide temporary protection to persons from Ukraine and facilitate entry... multilateral plan, from the first days of the invasion, Montenegro supported and condemned all the activities of Russia," Simićević pointed out.

New Serbian Democracy (NSD) MP Dejan Đurović praised Simićević and announced that he would vote for her.

"You have a real diplomatic vocabulary, you behave like that, you have references, it was pleasant to listen to you, unlike some candidates before who did not have this virtue of declaring themselves. You showed knowledge of history, which is mandatory for a diplomat, and considering the circumstances in that you are going to," said Đurović.

Deputy of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Aleksandra Vuković Kuč, said that this party announced that it would support all career diplomats, which Simićević did.

"B"We will need someone like you who, in that position, with experience from Serbia and the Russian Federation, will be able to help Montenegro position itself well and situate its foreign policy in Ukraine," concluded Vuković Kuč.
