Montenegro has chosen a path of development that will lead it to full membership in the European Union (EU), said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP) announced that today, in separate meetings, Ibrahimović spoke with the ambassadors of Kosovo and Slovakia in Montenegro, Arijan Žerko Hodža and Boris Gandel.
As stated by that department, Ibrahimović discussed with Gandel about the foreign policy priorities of Montenegro, with special reference to the progress achieved in the negotiations with the EU.
"He said that the 44th Government remains fully committed to the defined priorities of foreign policy and that Montenegro has chosen the path of development that will lead it to full membership in the EU," the statement said.
It is stated that at the meeting it was pointed out that Slovakia and Montenegro, as friendly countries and NATO allies, have excellent bilateral relations.
The interlocutors assessed that among the priorities of interstate contacts is the creation of conditions for a closer connection of businessmen and the strengthening of economic cooperation.
"During the conversation with the ambassador of Kosovo, it was assessed that Kosovo and Montenegro are friendly countries and neighbors who share a European perspective and are continuously working to improve bilateral relations," the statement said.
The Ministry stated that the importance of intensifying the political dialogue at a high level was pointed out, which will additionally encourage overall bilateral contacts, but also the intensification of economic cooperation.
"The interlocutors agreed that the strong European and Euro-Atlantic orientation of the two countries is the foundation for future joint action in the direction of strengthening good-neighborly relations and regional cooperation," said the MFA.
