Montenegro and Turkey have strong friendly ties, and very good bilateral relations significantly contribute to the rapprochement of the peoples of the two countries, it was said during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović, to the official Ankara.
Ibrahimović started his visit to Turkey today, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP), on the first day of the visit, Ibrahimović met with the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus.
"During the conversation, it was noted that the two countries have very good political contacts and bilateral cooperation, and the parliamentary dimension of Montenegrin-Turkish relations was discussed in particular," the announcement states.
Kurtulmuš pointed out that Montenegro and Turkey cherish historical ties that are continuously developing and upgrading in numerous areas.
He pointed out the importance of cooperation in the field of education and culture, which further enriches the relations between the peoples of the two countries.
Ibrahimović said that he was satisfied with the official visit to Turkey in the year in which the two countries are celebrating a significant jubilee - 145 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
"Frequent political dialogue, realized visits at all levels, substantial bilateral cooperation and the NATO alliance confirm mutual readiness and commitment to the further improvement of friendly interstate relations," said Ibrahimović.
The MFA said that during the meeting with the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Great National Assembly, Fuat Oktaj, the importance of parliamentary diplomacy was pointed out.
"Very good bilateral relations and cooperation in terms of economy, defense, tourism, culture and education, along with improved air connectivity, significantly contribute to bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together," said Oktaj.
Ibrahimović said that Turkey and Montenegro have strong friendly ties,
"And the achieved results in numerous areas of cooperation encourage and encourage us to new initiatives that will be in the direction of further strengthening our overall relations", said Ibrahimović.
Ibrahimović also spoke with the president of the parliamentary friendship group Montenegro - Turkey, Zejnep Jildiz.
"The interlocutors agreed that there is potential for the improvement of friendly relations, to which the activities of friendship groups formed in the national parliaments of the two countries will make a special contribution," said the MFA.
During his stay in Ankara, Ibrahimović visited the Anitkabir Mausoleum dedicated to the founder of modern Turkey, Mustafa Kamal Ataturk, where he laid a wreath and entered the Golden Book.
