Turkey is committed to peace and prosperity in the Western Balkans, said the President of that country, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a conversation with the Vice President of the Montenegrin Government and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović.
Ibrahimović, who is on a two-day visit to Turkey, spoke with Erdogan and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Erdogan expressed his support for the further development of overall relations with Montenegro.
"He particularly emphasized its multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multicultural harmony, and pointed to Turkey's commitment to peace and prosperity in the Western Balkans," the statement said.
Ibrahimović, as stated, reminded of the importance of Erdogan's visit to Montenegro in August 2021, which confirmed the closeness and friendly relations between the two countries and two peoples.
The statement added that Ibrahimović expressed satisfaction with the presence of an increasing number of Turkish investors and tourists in Montenegro, who recognize it as an attractive investment and tourist destination.
"He conveyed the belief that cooperation with renominated Turkish businessmen will intensify significantly in the coming period," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the conversation with Fidan, Ibrahimović said that Montenegro and Turkey have friendly relations, and that the cooperation achieved in various areas further modernizes and improves them.
"He emphasized the importance of fostering political dialogue and exchanging visits at all levels, which has a positive impact on economic, health, defense, tourism, cultural and cooperation in the field of education," the statement said.
Fidan stressed that Turkey is committed to the further development of bilateral relations with Montenegro, in the spirit of solidarity, mutual respect and understanding.
"The political relations between the two countries are at an extraordinary level, and the historical and cultural ties between our peoples are very strong," said Fidan.
He assessed that the completion of the contract base will give a strong impetus to the implementation of new projects, in the mutual interest and for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries.
"The interlocutors expressed the hope that high-quality political relations will have a positive impact on economic cooperation, and that an increase in the volume of trade can be expected in the coming period," the announcement states.
Ibrahimović and Fidan talked about current developments in the region, and in this context, as announced, the constructive role of both countries through active participation in numerous regional initiatives and organizations was welcomed.
"Ibrahimović and Fidan expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation within NATO and the joint effort to improve collective security and stability, which is of particular importance in the light of growing global crises and conflicts," the announcement concludes.
