The proposal to increase the monthly allowances of interns from the current 450 euros to 600 euros is expedient and necessary, in order to harmonize with the needs of young and educated people, said the president of the Young Democrats, Mitar Paunović.
He said that the Young Democrats, as a youth organization within Democratic Montenegro, fully support the proposal of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation to increase compensation for trainees by amending the law on professional training of persons with higher education.
"Taking into account the announced increase in the minimum wage from 450 to 600 euros for high school students, or 800 euros for university students, we additionally consider this proposal expedient, but also necessary, in order to harmonize with the needs of young, educated people," said Paunović.
As reported by Democratic Montenegro, he said that young people, in terms of employment, but also the price of work, must be kept in the country.
"Given that the announced amendment to the Labor Law, in addition to all employees, will not include participants in professional training programs, the only fair solution is not to allow graduates of higher education to receive only 450 euros per month for performing work and acquiring knowledge," says the announcement. .
It is stated that this does not reflect the current cost of living for a young person in Montenegro.
Therefore, as Paunović said, the amendment of the Law, along with the announced reforms of the education system, infrastructure projects, as well as the emphasis on quality evaluation, is a strong message to young people that the state is thinking of them.
Paunović added that this is a message that, in addition to the announced salary increase for already employed young people, those who are just entering the system and jobs can expect the same.
"Therefore, we absolutely affirm that proposal and inform the users of that program that they will have the unequivocal support of the members of the Government from the ranks of Democratic Montenegro, as well as the representatives of the Democrats in the Assembly," the announcement states.
