This morning, the Budva committee of Democratic Montenegro submitted to the parliamentary service a proposal that their list bearer Đorđe Zenović be the president of the Budva Municipal Assembly (SO).
The leader of the Budva Democrats, Krsto Radović, said that he expects the proposal to be signed by representatives of the election lists "For the future of Budva - Mladen Mikijelj", "Budva our city - Nikola Jovanović", as well as the Europe Now Movement (PES), the URA Civic Movement and the Social Democratic Party ( SDP).
As he said, the invitation to support their proposal was not addressed to the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
Radović called on the chairman of the SO Budva, the oldest councilor Sava Medigović, to schedule the continuation of the constitutive session tomorrow because the deadline expires at midnight.
If the parliament is not constituted tomorrow, i.e. the president of the SO is not elected, the president of the state Jakov Milatović will call for elections again.
Radović emphasized that even two and a half months after the election, the government has not been constituted.
"The responsibility lies with the groupings that received the most council mandates, the list led by Mikijelj and the list led by Jovanović, because they failed to come to an agreement. Both groups made it clear during the discussions that the Democrats and with whom they plan to form a government. For this reason, since neither party provided 13 councilors to form a government with our four, we have decided to submit the initiative today. We expect that the list of Mr. Mikijelj and PES will support it and now I have to publicly thank them because they said 15 days ago that they would support the candidate of Democratic Montenegro. in the past period, let's hear in public that the Democratic candidate would not be controversial," said Radović.
He points out that the decision to propose a candidate for the president of the SO is not the product of any political agreement, coalition agreement or race for seats.
"Our initiative is solely an attempt to find a model for the formation of a majority in some future period, to constitute a parliament in order to resolve some anomalies that existed in our city in the previous period. We will see during the day who signed the initiative," Radović said. and concluded that only DPS was not invited to support the initiative.
In order for the proposal to be on the agenda of the parliamentary session, it is necessary for the initiative to be supported by 11 councilors, i.e. a third. In order for Zenović to be voted in, 17 out of 33 councilors need to vote.
The list led by Mladen Mikijelj has nine councilors, the same number as the list led by Nikola Jovanović, the Democrats have four, PES two, and URA and SDP have one councilor each.
Bearing in mind that Mikijelj and PES had earlier sent an invitation to the Democrats to propose a candidate, two more councilor votes were needed to elect Zenović.
