Ahead of the upcoming local elections in Gusinje, the Bosniak Party (BS), led by the current President of the Municipality, Sanel Balić, is using the official profile of the Municipality of Gusinje as a tool for the pre-election campaign, which once again reveals their irresponsible and politically motivated practice, the Municipal Board announced Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Gusinje.
"The recent announcement on the official channel of the Municipality about the tender for the reconstruction of the building of the Police Station and the branch of the Directorate of Internal Affairs, worth 200.000 euros, is a classic example of the abuse of public resources for the purpose of political marketing," the announcement states.
They said that it is important to note that while Balić points out that this project is finally on its way to realization, the Bosniak Party did not have the same concerns when they were in coalition with the DPS in previous years.
"At the time, although the lack of a functioning Police Station was a known problem, the Bosniak Party did not consider this project important enough to commit together to solve it. Instead, their interest in this project suddenly revived only as the elections approached, leading to into question their real motives and not only shows the frivolity of the current government, but also their willingness to manipulate public information," the statement reads.
They said that the reconstruction of the building, which has been in the process of being solved for years, is now being used for political purposes, "which further confirms that the Bosniak Party is unable to provide realistic solutions to the problems that the citizens of Gusinje are facing".
"Until now, this government has shown a lack of real concern for the needs of citizens, and now it seems that this project is just another in a series of pre-election tricks," it added.
"DPS Gusinje calls on all citizens to carefully consider the motives behind such 'advances' and not fall for the political games and manipulations of the current government. The citizens of Gusinje deserve transparency and true commitment to solving problems, and not political performances that serve only for short-term benefits before the elections. It is time to elect leaders who will really work in the interest of all citizens, and not only for political goals. The Bosniak party should stop abusing official channels and focus on the real problems and needs of Gusinje," the statement concluded.
