The Ulcinj Prosecutor's Office is still working to discover the perpetrators who, on the night of May 29, threw unknown chemical substances into the hall of the Ulcinj Municipal Assembly and interrupted the extraordinary session of the local parliament.
"Regarding the case that happened in the hall of the Ulcinj Police Department when unknown chemical substances were used, we inform you that the last evidentiary action that was undertaken was the acquisition of a list of communications, and that the implementation of that evidentiary action was submitted to the Police Directorate. Until now, the report of the Police Administration has not been submitted", told "Vijesti" from the Ulcinj Prosecutor's Office, which is headed by the prosecutor Denis Zvrko.
The incident happened late at night on May 28, at an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers, during the discussion on the dismissal of the then president of the Municipality of Ulcinj Omer Bajraktari (GP URA), when unknown chemical substances were thrown, which caused a general commotion in the hall. There were no injuries in the incident.
Zvrko then told "Vijesta" that police officers are determining whether tear gas, pepper spray or some other substance was thrown into the hall. According to the preliminary results of the investigation, tear gas was not used, but some other chemical substance.
The extraordinary session continued a little later, and Bajraktari was relieved of his duties after midnight by the votes of 20 councilors present. Then the new parliamentary majority elected the leader of the Force as the president of the Municipality of Ulcinj Gentry of Nimanbegu. Frictions on the Ulcinj political stage began in April, about a month before the announced rotation of the positions of the President of the Municipality and the Assembly, which were covered by Bajraktari and Ardijan Mavrić (Force).
The government in Ulcinj was formed after the 2022 elections by the coalition "For a new beginning" (URA, DP, SD, SDP and AA) and Forca.
As "Vijesti" previously announced, the former ruling majority in Ulcinj existed only on paper weeks ago, because URA and Albanian Alternative (AA) concluded an agreement with the opposition Democratic Union of Albanians (DUA) on the entry of that party into power at the local level. It was speculated that the URA wanted to throw Forca out of power with such a move.
The ruling DP, SD and SDP did not agree to that scenario, so on May 13, Forca concluded an agreement with them and the opposition DPS on the formation of a new coalition, which will have a mandate until the regular elections in early 2026.
