A full eight months have passed since the end of the population census, which, according to the Constitution of Montenegro, had to be held back in 2021. However, like every process that is politicized in our country, this one has been politicized to such an extent that its epilogue is still not in sight, announced the president of Free Montenegro, Vladislav Dajković.
In addition to numerous excuses from Monstat leaders as to why the results of the census are late, such as those that the software is not ready, we received a notification on the website of the aforementioned administration that the census was completed - albeit a list of "slaughtered cattle".
"In fact, Monstat presented the following figures on its website: 'In the second quarter of 2024, there was a decrease in the slaughter of cattle in slaughterhouses in Montenegro. 7 head of cattle were slaughtered, i.e. 596% less head compared to the second quarter of 14,5. The net weight of slaughtered cattle in the second quarter of 2023 recorded a decrease of 2024%. - which gives the impression that the statistics of "slaughtered cattle" are more important than the statistics of living people.
We call, not for the first time, the Government of Montenegro, as well as Monstat, to get serious and finally publish the results of the population census, and not to create an alibi with the story of 'software', because so far they have been able to at least ten times in the presence of credible commissions and supervisory bodies manually count the census slips", stated in the statement that Dajković delivered to the media.
He added that if the Government and Monstat do not finally publish the results of the census, "it will become clear to everyone that the main intention of not publishing the results of the Census is actually to prevent the publication of the fact that the Serbian people in Montenegro are growing significantly, which, by all accounts, would lead to destabilization political circumstances in our country by those structures that would be greatly disturbed by this new reality".
