Democrat MP Momčilo Leković asked the Municipality of Bar for whom the two 110.000 euro jeeps were bought, saying that the citizens should know.
"While many parts of Bar in the 21st century do not have basic infrastructure, at the beginning of 2024 the municipality 'wisely' concluded that it urgently needed two luxury jeeps worth 110 thousand euros. And it seems that local officials could more easily get through the city crowds , but maybe explore impassable mountain roads? Because, what are the real needs of citizens compared to the comfort of leather seats and modern gadgets of these cars," said Leković.
It seems, he says, that the municipal authorities, instead of solving the everyday problems of the citizens, "decided to solve their 'problem' of transportation and that in style".
"In the Bar parliament session held ten days ago, we could not get an answer as to who 'owes' two electric jeeps paid for 110.000 euros, after the tender carried out with the working title: 'Procurement of vehicles for the needs of parking services and local government authorities'. At the price and characteristics, it could be concluded that they belong to some 'important' municipal 'faces', although this creates a dilemma because in 2020, with the purchase of official damages worth 300 thousand euros, all the first people of the municipality of Bar received quite solid vehicles," adds Leković.
He said it begs the question "who, after only four years of buying new vehicles, needed Jeeps with heated seats".
"Perhaps these cars were bought in accordance with the dual functions of municipal officials, one official vehicle for each function, that would perhaps be logical, because if they can perform dual functions, why not double official vehicles as well. Obviously, in the municipal administration, they consider that the future of Bar can best be built from an air-conditioned jeep with leather seats and a panoramic roof, through which you can clearly see how far it has moved away from the real needs of the population," said the Democrat MP.
And perhaps, he adds, the citizens should be grateful - "because now at least they know exactly what their money is being spent on, and that in the 'prestigious' edition".
"If nothing else, at least they will be sure that the city fathers will arrive on time for every meeting, no matter how bad our roads are. The four-wheel drive and almost 300 horse power guarantees them such a thing," concludes Leković.
