European and Euro-Atlantic values represent the strategic and development commitment of Montenegro and have no alternative, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović.
As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahimović said this in a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Giorgos Gerapetritis.
It is stated that Ibrahimović and Gerapetritis agreed that Montenegro and Greece are friendly countries and allies, committed to the continuous improvement of bilateral relations.
Ibrahimović thanked his Greek colleague for his strong political and expert support for Montenegro's European path.
Stating that membership in the European Union (EU) is the key foreign policy priority of Montenegro, Ibrahimović pointed to the progress achieved in the previous few months, but also the determination of the Government to continue at the same pace.
"European and Euro-Atlantic values represent the strategic, development commitment of Montenegro, and as such, they have no alternative," said Ibrahimović.
Gerapetritis confirmed Greece's strong support for the European integration of Montenegro and pointed out that the accession of Montenegro to the EU is important for both sides.
He emphasized that Montenegro and Greece nurture sincere friendly relations and that dynamic political dialogue gives an additional impetus to the further development of cooperation.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gerapetritis invited Ibrahimović to visit Greece and confirmed his commitment to improving friendly and allied relations.
"The interlocutors also emphasized their mutual interest in intensifying economic cooperation, through the closer connection of Montenegrin and Greek businessmen and the organization of business forums," the announcement states.
It is added that other regional and global topics were also discussed during the talks, and the significance of the alliance in NATO was also pointed out, which, as stated, further strengthened the bilateral relations between Montenegro and Greece.
