At today's meetings of the Main Board of the Europe Now Movement and the Presidency of the Democrats, it was unanimously decided to propose a coalition of these two parties in the upcoming local elections in Podgorica, Budva and Kotor.
As announced by Democratic Montenegro, in Podgorica the electoral list will be led by the candidate of the Europe Now Movement, while in Budva and Kotor the holders of the list will be Democratic candidates.
The holder of the list of that coalition in Podgorica will be the current Minister of Energy Saša Mujović, and in Kotor the current President of the Municipality Vladimir Jokić.
"The coalition of the Europe Now Movement and the Democrats represents a natural alliance based on consistency and common values. These two parties, as one of the few that did not cooperate with the defeated system either at the local or state level, have proven their commitment to reforms and progress. Through their advocacy, the EU integration process was accelerated, IBARA was obtained, and key economic successes were achieved, such as a drastic increase in salaries and pensions, the introduction of child allowances, free textbooks, higher allowances for newborns, the re-introduction of allowances for mothers with three or more children, as well as increased old-age allowances From all of the above, this coalition stands as a symbol of economic and social responsibility and constant concern for the well-being of citizens," the announcement reads.
They add that these are the parties "whose most prominent officials stand at the forefront of the fight against organized crime and corruption, as members of the Council, Bureau for Operational Coordination and leaders of the security sector, where historic results are achieved".
"PES and the Democrats are recognizable by their civic profile and diverse composition, which includes representatives of all religions and nations. This coalition is ready to join forces and lead with a wide range of competent and quality personnel, unlike some multi-practice politicians who they capture everything, but do not accomplish anything fundamental and strategic," the announcement concludes.
