The President of the State, Jakov Milatović, will, in accordance with his constitutional powers, continue to prevent the collapse of institutions, announced the adviser to the President of Montenegro for security and defense, Dejan Vukšić.
He reacted to the announcement of the Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović, who announced that Milatović rejected his proposal to relieve Brigadier General Zoran Lazarević from the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Army of Montenegro.
According to Krapović, the President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić were in favor of Lazarevic's dismissal.
"Gone are the days when decisions crucial to the security system were made outside the Defense and Security Council. The Minister of Defense should have known this when, in fact, without discussion and valid explanation and documentation, he proposed the dismissal of the Chief of the General Staff. The President of the State will, in accordance with his constitutional powers, continue to prevent the collapse of institutions. It is now much clearer why we do not have an ambassador to NATO and why a change of vote within the Council is required," Vukšić said.
