Portal Borba apologized to the public and to the list holder of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the elections in Podgorica, Nermin Abdić, for the text that, they said, was transmitted by that media, but they have nothing to do with it.
"Yesterday, a text was published on our portal in the Others write section entitled: 'Concert for Nermin: Islamization of Podgorica?'. Given that 'Borba' tries to meet everyone and publish as many author's texts as possible, independently from which political, national or religious group the authors belong, that's how the mentioned text came about. The author of the text is a certain Ivan Milošević, and Mr. Milošević is not our regular columnist, and we want to disassociate ourselves from his views," states the published apology. on the portal.
They say that they are aware that the text has caused condemnation from the public and that it is not appropriate, but that "there was an oversight" and that it was published without a detailed reading.
"For this, we apologize primarily to Dr. Nermin Abdić, and then to the entire Montenegrin public, i.e. to all citizens who felt insulted and called names. By apologizing, we show greatness, unlike those who never apologized for chauvinistic texts directed against the Serbian people. We are always ready to admit a mistake, which is why we removed the controversial text," they add.
They also point out that at the end of the text, "as in all the texts in the Others Write" section, there was a sentence that always dissociates itself from the author's opinions/views.
"By the way, the same text was published on the srpska24.net portal on the second of September, but it went unnoticed, so the author decided to forward the link to our newsroom for publication," says Borba.
"All in all, the uproar that arose because of this error is justified, but it is symptomatic that it is directed against our portal, and not against the author of the disputed text, nor against the portal where it was initially published. 'Borba' is a medium through which citizens they can address the Montenegrin and regional public, and the omission that was made will serve as a warning and an incentive for us to be even better views. However, the filtering of texts for the Others write column will be more rigorous in the future," the media concludes.
