Ivanovic: Traffic in Kotor disrupts everyday life

Our city is probably the only city in the region, and beyond, in which the issues of traffic congestion, sufficient number of parking spaces and charging for them in a new practical way, as well as the pedestrians themselves, have not yet been adequately resolved, which we will agree exist, but due to the already highlighted large traffic concentrations become "wild" parking spaces, said Dragan Ivanović, a candidate for councilor in the local elections in Kotor on the list of citizens "Guardians of the City".

Ivanović states that within the framework of the Plan for a better city that they have prepared, they are dealing with many evident problems of the city, among which is traffic, which disrupts everyday life.

"Due to all of the above, traffic breakdowns often occur, as a result of which the city's residents, who primarily cannot perform their basic activities, suffer the most, not to mention urgent situations such as the inability of emergency services or fire services to provide assistance to vulnerable citizens. If we look at the wider picture, we will see that the mere existence of sidewalks, which are necessary primarily for the safety of pedestrians, lose their meaning, all because of parked cars," says Ivanović,

At the same time, he adds, care must be taken not to hook them with a bicycle, electric scooter, or even a motorcycle.

"I wonder where pedestrians, children, mothers with strollers, disabled people, pensioners can move safely in this city. Should our message be: don't move, stay at home? Or is it time to stop turning a blind eye to the problem and give a solution. I can personally confirm everything highlighted, because living in Tabacina, which is the narrowest part of the city, this problem is very pronounced due to the huge flow of vehicles: delivery, official, tourist, bus and private vehicles that block that part of the city," he said. is Ivanovic.

He adds that there are solutions for all of the above, and that one of them is the introduction of paid zonal parking, limited in time, for which residents would have privileges, the tightening of penalties for illegal parking, by introducing "spiders", using the so-called "paws", but also by increasing the number communal police officers.

"We don't need to invent "hot water". We learn from others who had the same problem and successfully solved it. The local government must take care of the arrangement of everything prominent in its territory, which is visited daily by 7, 8, even 10 thousand tourists, and not allow that everyone does what they want and how they want. And you can't always pretend that it's someone else's fault. It's going to be your fault," Ivanović concluded.
