We defeated the frivolous economic policy that was reduced to the price of a liter of oil or the price of chocolate, and we will never deal with it again, because it left us with a tax debt of 636 million euros, 200 million failed guarantees, 800 million euros sucked from KAP and unfortunately, 95.000 citizens below the absolute poverty line, announced Zdenka Popović, Vice President of the Parliament of Montenegro.
"Despite the fact that the importance of the tax reform, which will improve the living standards of the citizens of Montenegro, has been denied and minimized for months, last night the members of the ruling majority voted on a set of laws related to the implementation of the Europe Now 2 program. This is also a key step towards further economic stabilization and improving the living standards of all citizens through an increase in the minimum wage to 600 and 800 euros, an increase in the average wage to 1000 and an increase in the minimum pension to 450 euros," said Popović in a statement delivered by Democratic Montenegro, of which she is a member.
Popović added that "thanks to the responsible economic and fiscal policy and the reduction of the gray economy, which is indicated by the planned collection of VAT for 2024 in the amount of 1,19 billion euros, in contrast to 2019, when 695 million euros were collected or the collection of taxes on profit in 2024 in the amount of 164 million euros, in contrast to 2019 when 73 million euros were collected, results were achieved that directly improve the quality of life of all citizens, not only the privileged transitional winners".
"These indicators prove that salary and pension increases are not the result of chance, but the product of a consistent and responsible economic policy that led to the stabilization and growth of budget performance," said Popović.
Members of the Parliament of Montenegro voted to rebalance the budget and adopted a set of laws that are necessary for the implementation of the Fiscal Strategy and the Europe Now 2 program.
Rebalancing the budget was necessary in order to introduce new ministries into the system, which were created by the reconstruction of the Government.
