Đorđe Zenović will lead the civic movement in the upcoming extraordinary local elections, which will be held on November 17 in Budva, "Vijesti" has learned unofficially from several sources.
The formation of a new movement is underway, which will bring together, as the "Vijesti" source said, "all free-thinking men and women from Budva, who are really ready to fight for the interests of the citizens and prevent the further deterioration of Budva".
Zenović, after nine years, recently left the Democrats, disappointed with the decision of both local and party colleagues from the Podgorica headquarters, to participate in the upcoming elections in a coalition with the Europe Now Movement.
Zenović led the Democrats in the May, also extraordinary elections in Budva, when this party managed to win four council mandates.
After the decision to leave the Democrats, Zenović received the support of many citizens, not to abandon his political direction and form a movement that would gather a large number of men and women from Budva dissatisfied with the current political situation.
Namely, citizens' dissatisfaction with the entire political scene, both with the parties in power and the opposition, culminated this summer, when Budva experienced a downturn - bad tourist season, communal chaos, piles of garbage and dirt, dysfunctional municipal administration...
All of this has had the effect that Zenović has already been conducting intensive talks with citizens, representatives of the NGO sector, civil activists, who are ready to form a civil movement that would really fight for the prosperity and salvation of Budva, with a clear departure from everything that happening in the city right now.
"Vijesti" contacted Zenović, who did not deny that he was forming a civil movement, not wanting to comment on his political plans for the time being.
Zenović, leaving the Democrats, recently said that "after nine years spent in Democratic Montenegro, as one of its founders, I decided it was time to continue my political struggle for this city in my own way."
"From 2019 until today, Budva has slipped into everything that I personally, but also with the people from the Budva Democrats' committee, fought against for years," wrote Zenović.
He also stated that they did not have the strength to push and promote ideas and that he considers this to be his personal responsibility.
"I am someone who has been involved in Budva and fought for Budva since the first day of my engagement in public affairs and politics, and I will not give up on that either now or in the future. I simply believed that Budva cannot and must no longer be a victim and a coin for the bribery of the official Podgorica, Zagreb, Sarajevo, Nikšić, Tirana, Belgrade or Singapore, and that decisions about Budva must be made in Budva. I understand the state policy and the legitimate interests of the parties at the state level, but I am no longer ready to make compromises to the detriment of the city in which I grew up and in which I will live. to live until the last day," said Zenović. In recent years, Zenović has been recognized by the Budva and Montenegrin public as a fighter for the protection of resources in Budva from the construction mafia. As deputy secretary for asset protection of the Municipality of Budva, he managed to protect the assets of the tourism metropolis in numerous court processes.
He also prevented the construction lobby from implementing its megalomaniacal projects to the detriment of the city's property, i.e. citizens, protecting the most valuable, the only remaining plots and localities from Jaz to Buljarica, which were targeted by "investors".
