Bojana Radojević, candidate for councilor from list number 2 "Dr Vuk Kadić - Move Forward - For Podgorica and family", emphasizes the importance of more rational use of textbooks in primary schools as a way of saving money for the city.
"Textbooks from first to third grade are currently designed to write and draw in them, which makes them unusable for future generations. However, from fourth grade there are already basic textbooks and collections, such as those for physics and mathematics and others that could to be used in future years. If we kept these textbooks for several generations, and added workbooks, reading logs and other materials that are intended to be used once, we could save at least 30 percent of the current costs - according to according to some estimates, it would amount to around one and a half million euros in a period of two years, and that money could be diverted to other important projects," Radojević points out in the announcement.
She added that currently, the only benefit we get from old textbooks is that we recycle them, but as she said, that is not enough.
She pointed out that longer-term use of textbooks would bring more concrete benefits and increase children's awareness of togetherness.
She also advocates the digitalization of textbooks for older classes, which would further reduce costs, but also enable a more modern and accessible way of learning.
"Digital textbooks are the future of education and a key step towards the modernization of the school system in older classes, especially for children with developmental difficulties and disabilities, due to greater possibilities for adapting the content and content format. Digital textbooks can be interactive, contribute to greater student engagement and motivate students to independent and creative work. The use of digital textbooks can contribute to the creation of habits to use computers and tablets for learning, not only for playing," concludes Radojević.
