About thirty members and sympathizers of the Party of European Progress (SEP), as well as the citizens who joined them, cleaned and removed waste near the Duklja archaeological site at the mouth of the Zeta in Morač on Sunday afternoon, SEP announced.
The party announced that this symbolically indicated that the problem of waste collection and sorting in Podgorica must be urgently solved, and that continuous efforts must be made to raise the environmental awareness of citizens.
As it was announced, SEP president Duško Marković said on that occasion that "we are all witnessing the results of the irresponsible Podgorica government, as well as the state government".
"There is garbage, disorder and dirt everywhere here. Here we witness wild landfills in this unique area of the archaeological site. Here we also witness the unkempt beds of two rivers, but also on the beaches and on their shores," said Marković.
The most difficult and with the greatest consequences, said Marković, is that waste water is discharged into the Morača river, under the control of the authorities, "which not only destroys the flora and fauna of our rivers, but also calls into question the health of the inhabitants of Podgorica and almost every municipality in Primorsky Region".
"That's why change is needed. That's why it's necessary for responsible and professional people to take over power in Podgorica. It's time for responsible and professional people. It's time for order! It's time for the Party of European Progress and it's time for our list holder and his team," he stated.
Ilija Mugoša, the holder of the electoral list "Time for order - Party of European Progress - Duško Marković", expressed his satisfaction with the action, saying that the response and the first reactions of the citizens confirm "that we have recognized the problem, the solution of which the citizens want and expect".
"The fact that the citizens spontaneously joined us shows that they share and identify with us the problems of the city. One of the first problems is communal disorder. Just today we cleaned this locality near Duklja, which is also the historical core of Podgorica. We are in our Program identified concrete actions that we will carry out, all with the aim of cleaning not only the historical parts, but also the whole of Podgorica," said Mugoša.
He said that the SEP program also includes the start-up of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and the PET packaging purchase project, which, they say, will solve the problem of plastic bottles in nature.
"You saw for yourself what it looked like when we arrived. Here you see how we are leaving this location. The same logic will apply to the city of Podgorica. When we take political responsibility, we promise you that we will clean up our city," said Mugoša. .
