The Naprijed movement advocates for the implementation of projects from the "Green Cities" program that will contribute to solving certain infrastructure problems in Podgorica and improve the quality of life of citizens, but also improve competitiveness and contribute to socioeconomic convergence with the cities of European Union countries, announced Ana Lončarević, candidate for councilor in the Assembly. of the capital city.
As she pointed out, Podgorica is the only city in the Western Balkans region that has not yet realized the opportunity to implement projects from the "Green Cities" program, nor has it used the availability of funds for financing these projects from International Financial Institutions. The "Green Cities" program, as stated, primarily offers a systematic approach to identifying and investing in the improvement of urban infrastructure.
About other elements of the program, Lončarević states the following:
"The mentioned program would include the development of an action plan for the development of green communal infrastructure and determine the key challenges facing the capital city of Podgorica in order to protect the environment and mitigate climate change. Also, the program includes a plan for the preparation and implementation of projects in the field of water supply and waste water disposal, as well as other projects that are significant for improving the quality of life of the citizens of Podgorica. Some of them relate to: urban transport, energy, solid waste, energy efficiency in buildings and digitalization."
As he adds, "outdated city infrastructure degrades the quality of life of citizens", and the implementation of projects within the framework of "Green Cities", which relate to the reconstruction of the water supply network, issues of clean air and the arrangement of city traffic, is of vital importance for the functional and sustainable development of Podgorica.
"By replacing asbestos pipes, citizens of Podgorica would have healthier and cleaner water. The implementation of smart systems would contribute to the identification of problems of technical and economic losses on the network. The construction of a water tank would significantly contribute to solving the water supply problem, which would ensure a more stable and reliable water supply for the citizens of certain local communities of the Capital City, which we often witness having problems with drinking water. Second, by regularly preparing studies of the public transport system, those responsible in the capital city would build a systemic approach to solving urban and suburban traffic problems. In the final action plan 'For a green city of Podgorica', the main sources of pollution would be identified as well as concrete measures to reduce air, water and soil pollution and increase energy efficiency", Lončarević says.
She said that the Forward Movement strongly supports the implementation of investments in areas oriented towards green transition and digitization, with targeted support for the development of human capital in terms of building skills and preparing the workforce for the development of sustainable infrastructure.
Digitization of sustainable infrastructure, as pointed out, leads to inclusive solutions that contribute to the quality of life in the capital.
Lončarević concludes that "a team of serious and responsible people from the list of Pokreta Naprijed" is a guarantee that this project will be at the top of the priorities of the "new city government of which we will be a part" after September 29.
