Saša Mujović, candidate of the list "Europe now - Democrats - Even stronger - Prof. Dr. Saša Mujović" for the mayor of Podgorica, said that the elections on September 29 are anything but local, but that there is a "big attempt" to threaten the Government and to "return to the field of division".
The list of PES and Democrats was presented last night, and the event was attended by the presidents of those parties Milojko Spajić and Aleksa Bečić, mayor Olivera Injac and Danilo Saranović, the other on the list.
The announcement states that 59 candidates for councilors from the coalition list were presented, and that Mujović presented the work plans and vision of Podgorica in the next four years.
"I can and do know how to walk on a straight road by myself, but I can't walk on macadam without you fellow citizens. If you have a clear goal and intention, then every giving and giving up takes on full meaning. We are fighting so that the days of apathy and hopelessness do not return, so that those who want more citizens in a state of social need do not return. These elections are anything but local. This is a big attempt to threaten the 44th Government, to return to the field of division again", said Mujović.
He stated that Podgorica has given him a lot and that is why he feels the need to repay her.
"Podgorica has given me a lot and it's my turn to give it back! I am sure that we have the wisdom to make Podgorica a European metropolis. I don't make empty promises, my word is sacred to me and it must be respected. If a promise is made, it must be fulfilled. And I promise that we will have a cleaner city, that we will build a tire processing plant, that we will have an energy efficient city... We will solve the traffic problem. We will stimulate motorized and non-motorized traffic. We will work and build even more," said Mujović.
The president of the Democrats, Aleksa Bečić, emphasized that no one from the coalition and no one from the two parties that make up that political alliance "overthrew the government that came into being on August 30, overthrew the 42nd government or changed the electoral authority and the winning majority in Podgorica a month or two ago."
"All this was done by others. It was done by some who we will not answer as they deserve, because behind us are deeds in the recent and distant past. Tonight I want to remind and underline once again, Democrats and Europe now! and those people who lead those two political subjects and this electoral list are almost the only politicians and political subjects who have never in their history exercised power and broken the electoral will with the DPS," he said.
Bečić, as reported, "listed some of the reasons why all the people behind this coalition have the greatest support":
"Because these two parties, the Democrats and Europe now!, are fighting for these goals on which the eternity of Montenegro truly depends. Those goals that are the true definition of patriotism, namely: economically strong citizens, strong institutions and buried mafia, a reconciled Black Gora and Montenegro in the European Union in 2028."
The president of PES Milojko Spajić called on those present to judge them by their actions and results, and said that there was enough "empty talk" and that it was time for concrete actions.
"Many said that IBAR is difficult to get, that it takes years and years. The same is the case with the security sector - the sponge is fuller than ever. For the first time in history, we have 18 sections of roads and expressways that will be built," Spajić said.
"Despite all the results, 'Europe Now 2' is a project to which we gave ourselves heart and soul and which, despite all the obstacles, we will achieve. Higher salaries and pensions will welcome the new Podgorica councilors. Pensions will not be reduced either in October or January 2025. There will be no reduction in pensions, I personally guarantee that. We will choose the person who will lead Podgorica on the best path! One man can't do everything alone, but he has the best board list," he said.
The second on the list, Danilo Šaranović, said that PES and the Democrats "will prevent a return to the old".
"We are the ones who put the standard of citizens first. We are the ones who started a determined fight against crime and corruption. And we are the ones who built the European perspective in Montenegro. While others were empty words, we worked and fulfilled their promises. And thanks to all that, one thing is clear, and that is that no one wants to go back to the old ways, and we will prevent that."
"On this list that we jointly present to the citizens of Podgorica, Democratic Montenegro and the Europe Now! Movement, we submitted 59 carefully chosen and well-known names and some that are ready to give even stronger results. And the one against whom the hybrid war has been waged since the first day, the one who, together with us, guarantees an even stronger Podgorica, the one who has a precise engineering solution for every problem of our city, the one who guarantees our victory is the great man and top professional, the future mayor of Podgorica, Dr. Saša Mujović, concluded Šaranović.
Mayor Olivera Injac said that "the fight for Podgorica must be even stronger".
"I am addressing you as a sincere fighter for Podgorica, a city that we will develop according to the measure of all citizens. The fight for Podgorica must be even stronger, but not for Podgorica as a resource or loot, but as a starting point for numerous developed ideas that will lead the whole of Montenegro to the European Union. Our way is Europe," she said.
She said they have no vanity.
"That political model is owned by those who carried out the conquest of this country. We chose to enter into a merciless fight with Saša Mujović. I know that Saša will direct all his energy to win despite the dirty campaign, and I will make all my knowledge and experience available to our coalition ", concluded Injac.
