President of the Municipality of Mojkovac Vesko Delic (For the future of Mojkovac) said that he did not want to "reflect too much" on the vice president's statement Ivan Ašanin (URA), which announced the possibility of early local elections, if the Government does not intensify activities on key projects in that city.

Ašanin said last week that he was dissatisfied with the dynamics of the implementation of several projects, primarily those related to the Žarski Ski Center, but also due to the prolongation of works on communal and other infrastructure. If this situation does not change, he said that "it is moral for the current local government to resign".

Delić says that the political entity he comes from is ready for the possibility of elections. He claims that the local government in Mojkovac functions stably despite, as he said, "certain obstacles it faces".

"We continue to work dedicatedly in the interest of citizens, focused on the implementation of planned projects and improvement of living conditions in the municipality. Thanks to a responsible approach and cooperation with all relevant institutions, we manage to overcome challenges and ensure continuity in work, thereby confirming our commitment to the development of Mojkovac and the well-being of the local community. Of course, if someone thinks that this is not enough and wants to continue with obstructions, we are fully prepared for early elections", says the President of the Municipality.

He believes that the current ruling majority "through transparent and responsible work has achieved significant progress in the development of the municipality". At the same time, he explains, they are ready to face "the opinion of the citizens and give them the opportunity to express their views".

"Our primary obligation is to work in the interest of the citizens of Mojkovac, and if necessary, we are ready to confirm this in the elections. What I want to emphasize are the projects that the current majority implemented in the past three years, which significantly contributed to the improvement of infrastructure, the improvement of the quality of life of citizens, as well as the development of the local community. At the same time, new ones were started that will further strengthen the development of the municipality in the coming period", says Delić.

He expects "that these new projects, through cooperation with relevant institutions, above all, the Government and the support of citizens, will contribute to the further modernization and improvement of Mojkovac". The municipality's priority, announced Delić, in the coming period will be the implementation of the ski resort construction project, which he considers crucial for the development of the municipality's tourist potential.

"That project will not only contribute to the diversification of the tourist offer, but will also create new jobs, improve the local economy and position Mojkovac as an attractive destination for winter tourism. With the support of the current government, we are working to realize this project in the shortest possible time, to the satisfaction of all our citizens", says the President of the Municipality.

And the President of the Municipal Assembly (SO) of Mojkovac Marko Janketić (Democrat) believes that the Government, in cooperation with the local administration, will intensify and complete all started projects in that city, including those related to the future ski center in Bjelasica. He said that "different opinions are part of the democratic process".

"We have firm assurances from the holder of state power that he will continue the implementation of strategic projects in our municipality. I am sure that the current government, during its mandate, in cooperation with the local administration, will intensify and finish, among other things, the ski resort project on the Mojkovac side of Bjelasica", said Janketić to "Vijesta".

He reminds that "Democrats are individually the strongest party of the ruling majority in the local parliament, but also the most organized with a strong party infrastructure, which is ready for elections at any moment". Janketić claims that his party is currently focused on improving the overall situation in Mojkovac.

"Our action is exclusively aimed at getting our city out of the economic impasse, which was brought to it by the previous government. We are part of a heterogeneous coalition that is accompanied by differences of opinion and occasional passing, which is natural when the government consists of several political entities. This is good for democratic processes, both at the state and municipal levels. It is important that the time of single-mindedness is behind us," says Janketić.

He reminds that "at the state level, the distribution of forces is different compared to three or four years ago". That is why, as he explains, "those who were in power are now the opposition and are looking for their own political space, which has been narrowed." Janketić claims that from the position of SO president, he has good cooperation with coalition partners. He says that the decisions they make are "in the best interest of the citizens of Mojkovac".

The local government in Mojkovac consists of the coalition For the Future of Mojkovac (Nova, Democratic People's Party, Movement for Changes, Workers' Party, Socialist People's Party), Democrats, URA, United Montenegro and the group of citizens "Ne damo Mojkovac". The last local elections in that city were held in December 2021, when the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) lost power. The local parliament consists of 31 councilors, and the current government is made possible by 17 councilors. The URA has two councilors and if they were to withhold their support, the new government would not be able to be constituted.
