The first on the list of the Bosniak Party (BS) for the upcoming local elections in Podgorica Edin Tuzović believes that the city administration must be guided by the public interest when it comes to the collector.
In an interview with "Vijesti" via e-mail, he said that he expects a good result and reminds that his party won about 2.000 votes in the capital in the parliamentary elections.
"Podgorica must be a clean city. I know it's a big challenge, because the city is expanding every day. However, we must not allow illegal landfills to be formed in various parts of the city, and that tourists who come to our city, instead of enjoying the beauty of Podgorica, look at containers full of garbage. After the elections, the situation in these two large city companies should be studied carefully and necessary steps should be taken," Tuzović assessed.
He pointed out that they did not consider any other form of going to the elections other than independent performance.
Why did you decide to be the first on the list of the Bosniak Party in the elections in Podgorica?
I am grateful to the BS Podgorica Municipal Committee and the Party Presidency for giving me the great honor of leading our list in these elections. As someone who, together with other colleagues, founded the BS committee in Podgorica more than 18 years ago, I must say that I am completely convinced of a good election result. Therefore, I believe that the men and women of Podgorica will support our list in large numbers on September 29.
Bearing in mind that party leader Ervin Ibrahimović will not be a councilor and does not vote in Podgorica, why is his name in the name of the list and not yours?
Gospodin Ibrahimovic is the president of our party, someone who is the most responsible for the results recorded by BS, and I remind the public that in the last parliamentary elections we achieved the best result since its establishment. It is completely natural that the name of the list has the name of the party president. I am the first on the committee list and I think that this matter is completely clear. We had similar practices in the past, whether it was local or parliamentary elections.
You have decided to go to the elections in Podgorica independently. Were there any negotiations with anyone about a joint performance, and if so, with whom?
From the moment it became clear that extraordinary elections would be held, we in BS did not think about any other exit option, except for an independent performance.
What result do you expect in the elections? What will you do if the BS does not pass the census?
We expect a good result. I remind you that we won almost two thousand votes in the parliamentary elections in Podgorica. At the very least, I expect us to repeat that result, and I believe that there is room to improve that result. This is indicated by the latest public opinion polls, as well as reports from the field. We are getting an excellent reception from the citizens of Podgorica.
With whom would you join the post-election coalition?
At this moment, our focus is to talk to our fellow citizens, to present our election program, which is comprehensive. We want to visit as many of our citizens as possible and send a clear message - that Podgorica must and should be all of us!
If you are part of the future government, how do you intend to solve the main problem of Podgorica - garbage and lack of water in certain parts? Will you reduce the number of employees in Čistoca and Vodovodo, considering that they have a large number of workers, but they do not perform the jobs they exist for efficiently?
Podgorica must be a clean city. I know it's a big challenge, because the city is expanding every day. However, we must not allow illegal landfills to be formed in various parts of the city, and that tourists who come to our city, instead of enjoying the beauty of Podgorica, look at containers full of garbage. After the election, the situation in these two large city companies should be studied carefully and the necessary steps taken.
How will you solve the problem of lack of parking and illegal parking of vehicles?
I think the city center is the most affected by this problem. As far as I know, the conceptual project of building an underground garage in the city center has already been started. That is a good idea, but not enough. The possibility of further increasing the capacities of the company Parking service must also be considered. Of course, we also have to take care of how we park in the capital.
One of the pressing problems of Podgorica is the collector whose relocation has been announced for years. Do you have a solution for that?
The new local government must solve this problem, because failure to solve this problem creates enormous environmental problems for the city, its citizens and the environment. In the previous period, all the studies were done and I think that the city administration must be guided by the public interest.
Do you have a plan to improve the tourist offer in the capital?
Podgorica records an increase in tourists. This is something that makes us happy. However, I think that as a city we have not used all our potential in tourism. It is unacceptable that the Old Town, which with its history is one of the symbols of Podgorica, has been neglected. Podgorica is unimaginable without the Old Town, without Durrës, because they are the symbol of old Podgorica.
